Jon Gillies Starts Regular-Season Finale For Columbus
Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Jon Gillies will be between the pipes when the team completes its regular-season schedule Friday against Buffalo. The 29-year-old will make his third appearance of the season. He won his lone start 4-3 in overtime against Ottawa with a 24-save effort and Gillies also made a relief appearance last week against New Jersey, finishing with nine saves on 12 shots. He's been very leaky in the few games he has played, although Gillies' chances of success on Friday will be helped by the fact that Buffalo's leading sniper Tage Thompson (upper body) won't be in the lineup.
New Jersey Devils goaltender Jon Gillies made his team debut on Sunday, stopping 19 of 22 pucks in a 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh. The Devils have now set a team record by fielding six different goalies across a single season. Gillies joined the gang from St. Louis via a trade on Dec. 15. He's also played for the Blues once this season and now boasts a 0-1-1 record for the year with a 2.97 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. The Devils seem incapable of winning any games right now, so fantasy managers should steer clear of the team's netminders.
