Calgary Flames center Kevin Rooney (undisclosed) was injured in Wednesday's season opener against Vancouver. With only seven minutes played in the contest, Rooney took a hard hit from Canucks forward J.T. Miller and exited the game after logging only two shifts as the fourth-line center. The American forward hasn't been very productive offensively in his career and settled for four points (three goals, one assist) in 33 outings last season. Matthew Coronato will have a chance to enter the lineup if Rooney isn't available for Saturday's meeting with Philadelphia.
On Friday, New York Rangers center Kevin Rooney was placed on Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury. He's played in 56 games this season, producing six goals and five assists while skating on the team's fourth line. Before getting hurt, Rooney had just one point in his last five games played. Jonn Brodzinski will replace him. The Canton, Massachusetts, native doesn't factor into fantasy hockey.
New York Rangers forward Kevin Rooney delivered half of the team's goals in Wednesday's 4-1 victory over the Islanders, finding the net twice with three shots. Ryan Reaves picked up assists on both of the goals as the Rangers' fourth line clearly enjoyed this year's first Battle of New York. Rooney doesn't do enough to be fantasy relevant, but he's now on five goals for the season and sits second in goals on the team. Chris Kreider tends to hog up all the goals and has already lit the lamp 15 times.
