Jacob Trouba Unmoved By Trade Speculation

New York Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba hasn't been bothered by trade speculation that surrounded him earlier in the summer and is ready to head to battle with the team once again next season. "It's part of the business," Trouba told Peter Baugh of The Athletic. "I knew that part of my contract turned this year (to a no-trade list), and I submitted a list. That's what I did. All the other noise was pretty much noise." Trouba has two more seasons left on a large seven-year, $56 million contract. The Rangers captain struggled to be effective in 2023-24, going minus-four across 69 appearances. He averaged the second-fewest points in his career, with three goals and 19 assists. However, Trouba continued to deliver fantasy managers a good chunk of peripheral stats, finishing the campaign with 183 blocks and 191 hits.

Rangers, Ryan Lindgren Agree On One-Year Deal

New York Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren has signed a one-year, $4.5 million deal with the club. The 26-year-old restricted free agent was set for a salary arbitration hearing on Friday before getting a new contract sorted out. Lindgren has spent his entire NHL career with the Rangers, suiting up in 333 regular-season games. He has notched 80 points (10 goals, 70 assists) with 341 shots on goal, 465 blocks, and 514 hits. Lindgren rarely does anything flashy but plays an efficient game, evident by a plus-99 rating for his career. He has struck up a successful partnership with the Rangers' No. 1 blue-liner Adam Fox. The two are now poised to continue to roll together in 2024-25.

Kaapo Kakko Signs One-Year Extension With Rangers

New York Rangers right wing Kaapo Kakko has signed a one-year, $2.4 million extension with the team. He's coming off a two-year, $4.2 million contract and was set for restricted free agency. Kakko has had an up-and-down career in the NHL since being selected second overall by the Rangers in the 2019 draft. Following a 40-point campaign, the 23-year-old totaled only 13 goals and 19 points in 61 appearances this term. Kakko has amassed 117 points (57 goals, 60 assists) in 300 career games, leaving plenty of fantasy managers frustrated. However, he is still young enough to develop into a regular scorer.

Artemi Panarin Scores Lone Rangers Goal In Game 6 Defeat

New York Rangers left wing Artemi Panarin potted the team's only goal in Saturday's 2-1 Game 6 defeat against Florida. Battling for survival in the Eastern Conference Final, the Rangers struggled to generate scoring chances and only found the back of the net with 1:40 left in the third period. Panarin hadn't scored for eight games before recording his fifth postseason marker. He had a difficult time in front of the net despite scoring a career-high 49 goals during the regular season. The two-time All-Star totaled 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) in 16 games overall in the playoffs.

Igor Shesterkin Solid In Losing Effort

New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin pushed away 32 of 34 shots for a .941 save percentage in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final against Florida on Saturday, but despite his fantastic effort, the season ended for the team with a 2-1 loss. Shesterkin was beaten by Sam Bennett inside the final minute of the first period and also gave up a goal to Vladimir Tarasenko in the middle of the third. He didn't receive any goal support until the 18:20 mark, and it was too little too late. The Rangers' No. 1 coughed up more than two goals just four times in the six-game series. He finished the postseason with a 10-6 record, a 2.34 goals-against average, and a .927 save percentage.

Mika Zibanejad Grabs First Conference Finals Points With Assists

New York Rangers center Mika Zibanejad recorded his first points of the Eastern Conference Final series against Florida on Thursday, picking up assists on both goals in the team's 3-2 defeat. Zibanejad logged a short-handed helper in the second period when Chris Kreider scored and had his second assist inside the final minute of the game on Alexis Lafreniere's eighth goal of the playoffs. The Swedish centerman became the first player in Rangers history with at least 12 assists in multiple postseasons. He's averaging over a point per game in the playoffs, boasting three goals and 13 assists through 15 games. However, 13 of Zibanejad's 16 points came when he opened the postseason with an eight-game scoring streak.

Alexis Lafreniere Bags Eighth Postseason Goal

New York Rangers winger Alexis Lafreniere continued his terrific postseason campaign with another goal in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Florida. He finished the scoring in the contest, notching his eighth playoff goal of the year. Alex Kovalev is the only player aged 22 or younger in Rangers history to score more goals in a single postseason (9). With him having also recorded six assists, Lafreniere is tied for the third most points among Rangers players in these playoffs. He will look to score in a fourth consecutive game when the Rangers try to stave off elimination on Saturday night.

Chris Kreider Ends Scoreless Run With Two-Point Effort

New York Rangers left wing Chris Kreider finished Thursday's 3-2 Game 5 loss to the Panthers with two points. He tied Mark Messier's franchise record with his third career short-handed postseason goal and registered an assist when Alexis Lafreniere found the back of the net late in the game. These are Kreider's first points of the Eastern Conference Final. His productivity has suddenly nosedived after Kreider enjoyed a very good start to the postseason and scored a hat trick to finish off Carolina in Game 6 in the previous round. The veteran winger boasts eight goals and 12 points in 15 games for the 2024 playoff campaign.

Adam Fox Records Two Assists In Game 4 Loss

New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox registered two assists in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to Florida. After logging only one point in the previous seven games, Fox helped Vincent Trocheck get a power-play goal in the first period and grabbed another assist early in the third when Alexis Lafreniere found the back of the net. Fox started the playoffs well but has been struggling offensively for a while. All of his seven points in 14 postseason games have come via assists.

Artemi Panarin Posts Pair Of Helpers In Game 4

New York Rangers left wing Artemi Panarin finished Tuesday's Game 4 loss to the Panthers with two assists. His playmaking helped the Rangers take the game to overtime in a 3-2 defeat. Panarin is averaging a point per game through 14 playoff contests, but he's been quiet in the Conference Finals. Two of the four games in the matchup have ended without any points for Panarin. In fact, Panarin hasn't had points in back-to-back outings since riding a four-game point streak at the start of the second-round series against Carolina.

Vincent Trocheck Extends Point Streak With Power-Play Goal

New York Rangers center Vincent Trocheck had another productive playoff outing on Tuesday, scoring a power-play goal in a 3-2 overtime loss to Florida. Trocheck opened the scoring in the contest, potting his eighth postseason goal for his 19th point in 14 games. The 30-year-old has gone scoreless just three times in the 2024 playoffs and will enter Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals with a three-game point streak. The Rangers saw Trocheck post only one point in seven postseason games a year ago, so it's been a huge improvement from the hardworking centerman this term.

Blake Wheeler  • RW  •  Rangers

Blake Wheeler Logs Nine Minutes In First Game Since February

New York Rangers right wing Blake Wheeler was back in action in Game 4 against Florida on Tuesday, logging 9:18 of ice time in his first game since Feb. 15. Wheeler replaced Filip Chytil in the lineup after missing over three months with a lower-body injury. He skated on the fourth line, with Jack Roslovic taking Chytil's spot on the top trio. The veteran recorded two blocks, four hits, and two penalty minutes in the contest. Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette suggested Chytil was kept out of the game for load management purposes, so it remains to be seen whether Wheeler can stick in the lineup. But it was great to see him back on Tuesday.

Jacob Trouba Escapes Suspension For Elbowing

New York Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba has avoided suspension for elbowing Florida forward Evan Rodrigues during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final on Sunday. He received a $5,000 fine for the incident, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Game 3 was a very busy day at the office for Trouba in general. He tallied two assists in the contest and blocked a game-high nine shots while amassing one shot on goal, two hits, and six penalty minutes with a minus-one rating. The hard-hitting blue-liner boasts seven points (one goal, six assists) through 13 postseason appearances and has recorded 63 blocks with 49 hits.

Barclay Goodrow Enjoys Two-Goal Outing On Sunday

New York Rangers center Barclay Goodrow potted two goals as the team snuck past the Panthers 5-4 in overtime on Sunday. Alex Wennberg was the hero of the night with the game-winner in overtime, but Goodrow played a vital part early in the game. His even-strength goal gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead in the first period, and a short-handed marker from Goodrow put Peter Laviolette's team 4-2 up in the second. Goodrow has sparked into life lately, scoring five of his six postseason goals across the last six games. He's started to make a big impact from a fourth-line role, adding a pair of assists in 13 games during the Rangers' playoff run.

Alexis Lafreniere Nets Two Goals In Game 3 Victory

New York Rangers winger Alexis Lafreniere ended a four-game point drought with a pair of goals in Sunday's 5-4 overtime victory against Florida. Lafreniere scored in each of the first two periods to help the Rangers grab a 4-2 lead ahead of the third frame. The 22-year-old reached six goals and 12 points for the postseason. Through 13 games, Lafreniere has averaged close to three shots per game, but he's lit the lamp in only four outings. Prior to Sunday's game, Lafreniere's lone goals had come during a three-game stretch early in the second round. It would be a big plus for the Rangers if the former first-overall pick could regularly help out on the offensive end.

Alexander Wennberg Ends Goal Drought With Game-Winner In Overtime

New York Rangers center Alexander Wennberg gave the team a 5-4 overtime win in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final against Florida on Sunday. The 29-year-old found a perfect time to end a 24-game goal-scoring slump, giving the Rangers a 5-4 victory and a 2-1 series lead with 5:35 played in overtime. This is only the second postseason point of the year for Wennberg, who contributed an assist in Game 2 against Carolina in the second-round series. Combined with the regular season, the Swedish centerman has tallied only seven points (two goals, five assists) in 32 games with the Rangers. But the team won't complain if he contributes in key moments.

Mika Zibanejad On The Cusp Of Making History

New York Rangers center Mika Zibanejad has been enjoying another prolific postseason and could set a new franchise mark in Sunday's Game 3 against the Panthers. The Swedish forward can become the first player in Rangers history with 12-plus assists in multiple postseasons. Zibanejad has tallied 11 helpers in 12 games this year in the playoffs, adding two goals. He's one of three Rangers players to average at least a point per game in the 2024 postseason. However, Zibanejad has yet to score any points in the Eastern Conference Finals, going minus-one with four shots on goal across two games.

Jimmy Vesey Out Week-To-Week

New York Rangers winger Jimmy Vesey (upper body) will not play in Sunday's Game 3 against Florida and is considered week-to-week. He suffered an upper-body injury in Game 2 on a big hit from Panthers forward Ryan Lomberg. Following a 26-point regular-season campaign, Vesey has notched three points (one goal, two assists) in 12 playoff contests. His absence might help Kaapo Kakko get back into the lineup, while veteran Blake Wheeler is also an option to make his first appearance since February.

Igor Shesterkin Attempts To Turn Around Form On Friday

New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin will hope to get back on track as the Eastern Conference Finals continue on Friday. He received no goal support and took a 3-0 defeat against Florida in Game 1 of the series, suffering a third loss in four games. Shesterkin has struggled to make it to the win column after going unbeaten in each of the team's first seven postseason games of the year. It's been a disappointing spell for Shesterkin lately, but he still owns strong numbers. The Rangers No. 1 has gone 8-3 in the playoffs, allowing 2.37 goals with a .926 save percentage.
