Igor Shesterkin Leads The Way On Friday

New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin stopped 41 of the 42 shots in his victory over the Dallas Stars. This was a much-needed victory for the Rangers as they have lost five of their past six contests and fallen towards the bottom of the Eastern Conference. The Rangers were heavily outshot but their franchise goaltender got them back in the win column. His lone blemish came in the opening two minutes on a snap shot by center Roope Hintz. This was also a much-needed bounce-back performance for Shesterkin who posted an underwhelming 3.27 GAA with a 1-3 record over his previous four starts. Even though the Rangers have struggled throughout December, Shesterkin should still be viewed as a high-end goaltender. He will look to continue his win streak on Sunday afternoon against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Artemi Panarin A Game-Time Decision Friday

New York Rangers left wing Artemi Panarin (upper body) is considered a game-time decision for Friday's matchup against Dallas. He'll be hoping to return from a two-game absence. Panarin has gone pointless only once in his last seven appearances and leads the team with 36 points (15 goals, 21 assists) in 29 games. No other Ranger has managed more than 25 points this campaign, which shows just how important Panarin is for the team. The veteran star is expected to be reunited with Alexis Lafreniere and Vincent Trocheck if he gets the green light to play.

Will Borgen Joins Rangers

The New York Rangers have picked up defenseman Will Borgen in a trade with the Seattle Kraken. Additionally, the team received a third-round and sixth-round draft pick in a deal that saw winger Kaapo Kakko go the other way. Borgen looks like a replacement for the recently departed Jacob Trouba, who was traded to Anaheim on Dec. 6. Borgen, who turned 28 on Thursday, has been limited to two points (one goal, one assist) in 33 games with the Kraken this season but brings physicality to the team. He has logged 48 hits this season with 37 blocks. Across the previous two campaigns, Borgen averaged 2.43 hits per game.

Artemi Panarin To Remain Out On Tuesday

New York Rangers left wing Artemi Panarin (upper body) will be absent for a second straight game on Tuesday against Nashville. The star winger had featured in all 29 games this season before exiting the lineup for Sunday's clash against St. Louis. Panarin has posted a team-high 36 points (15 goals, 21 assists) and is one of only eight players in the league with at least 15 goals and 20 assists for the campaign. Kaapo Kakko is expected to re-enter the lineup on Tuesday after being a healthy scratch last time out, but Will Cuylle and Brett Berard should maintain top-six roles.

Artemi Panarin Out On Sunday

New York Rangers left wing Artemi Panarin (upper body) won't play in Sunday's contest against St. Louis and is considered day-to-day. He will sit out his first game of the campaign after being limited to 14:22 of action in Saturday's heavy 5-1 defeat to Los Angeles. Panarin's absence leaves the Rangers without their top scorer. Panarin has been hot for most of the year despite the team's struggles, registering 15 goals and 36 points in 29 games. Will Cuylle will join the top six for Sunday's action. He's done well this season, logging 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 29 appearances, and will now have additional fantasy value.

K'Andre Miller Placed On Injured Reserve

New York Rangers defenseman K'Andre Miller (upper body) has landed on Injured Reserve. He was hurt in Wednesday's battle against Buffalo and appears set for a spell on the sidelines. The Rangers will be back at work on Saturday versus Los Angeles. Miller has produced six points (two goals, four assists) in 28 games this season with 42 shots, 40 blocks, and 55 hits. Connor Mackey is expected to fill in for Miller on the second defensive pairing. In 40 NHL career games, Mackey has recorded 11 points (four goals, seven assists), 40 shots, 33 blocks, and 74 hits.

Mika Zibanejad Scores 300th Career Goal

New York Rangers center Mika Zibanejad celebrated his 300th career goal in Wednesday's 3-2 road victory at Buffalo. He reached the plateau with a power-play marker in the first period. Zibanejad is the eighth Swedish player in NHL history to score at least 300 career goals. Six of his goals have come this season, along with 15 assists in 28 appearances. Zibanejad hasn't been at his best in 2024-25, but the same goes for the entire team. At least he's upped his scoring pace in recent games, averaging a point per game across his past six outings.

Adam Fox  • D  •  Rangers

Adam Fox Records Three Points In Wednesday's Win

New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox had a three-point night in Wednesday's 3-2 victory against Buffalo. Fox picked up a couple of assists, including a power-play helper, and scored his first goal of the season with the Sabres net empty in the final minutes. The star blue-liner needed to produce 41 shots on goal to get his first marker of the campaign. There hasn't been much puck luck for Fox in front of goal, but he's still been productive and remains on track for a fourth consecutive 70-point season. 25 points in 28 games put Fox tied for fifth on the defensemen scoring charts.

K'Andre Miller Sustains An Upper-Body Injury

New York Rangers defenseman K'Andre Miller (upper body) had his night cut short on Wednesday versus Buffalo. He missed the third period because of an upper-body injury. Prior to his exit, Miller registered one shot, two blocks, and one hit in 13:42 of ice time. Miller hasn't yet missed any games this season, picking up six points (two goals, four assists) in 28 appearances. Additionally, he has recorded 42 shots, 40 blocks, and 55 hits. The Rangers return to action on Thursday versus Los Angeles. If Miller is out, Connor Mackey might get a chance to make his season debut. He does not have any fantasy value.

Igor Shesterkin Faces Sabres On Wednesday

New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin will make his 21st start of the campaign on Wednesday against Buffalo. The star netminder has struggled lately, winning only once in his last seven outings. As a result of his recent poor form, Shesterkin's record for the season has dropped to 9-10-1. He has allowed 2.95 goals with a .910 save percentage and one shutout. Wednesday's matchup gives Shesterkin and the Rangers a good opportunity to get back on track. Buffalo finds itself on a seven-game skid and has been limited to two or fewer goals four times during the stretch.

Artemi Panarin Scores Twice, Adds A Helper On Friday

New York Rangers left wing Artemi Panarin scored twice and tallied an assist during their victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday evening. Panarin found the back of the net both times in the second period. First, he beat Alex Nedeljkovic on a slap shot just under half-way through the frame. Later, with just a few seconds remaining, Panarin earned his second goal on a snap shot. Panarin would then tally the primary assist on Vincent Trocheck's goal in the final minutes of the third period to put the game out of reach. This outing extended Panarin's point streak to three games, which is a great sign for the 33-year-old, as he tallied just two points over his previous six before this stretch. Despite New York winning just two games out of their last eight, fantasy managers should continue viewing Panarin as an elite winger with immense scoring upside.

Igor Shesterkin Signs Historic Extension With Rangers

New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin has agreed to an eight-year extension with the team. He'll be paid $92 million over the course of the deal, making it the largest goalie contract in NHL history. With the new contract, Shesterkin's salary cap hit will rise to $11.5 million. The Russian netminder is currently on a four-year, $22.67 million deal, which expires at the end of the season. Shesterkin has certainly earned a big pay raise after developing into one of the best goalies in the world. He's sporting a 143-68-18 career record with a 2.48 goals-against average, a .920 save percentage, and 16 shutouts. The 2024-25 campaign has been a bit tricky for Shesterkin, as he carries an 8-9-1 record, but with his future now sorted, we might see an improvement in form from the Rangers' No. 1 glove.

Chris Kreider  • LW  •  Rangers

Chris Kreider Unavailable Versus Blues

New York Rangers left wing Chris Kreider (upper body) will not play on Monday against St. Louis. He is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Kreider's absence comes on the same day his name popped up in trade rumors. The veteran has struggled in 2024-25, posting nine goals with zero assists in 19 outings. Mika Zibanejad is projected to skate with Will Cuylle and Brett Berard, who will make his NHL debut. Alexis Lafreniere will take Kreider's spot on the first power-play unit.

Artemi Panarin Strikes Twice On Saturday

New York Rangers left wing Artemi Panarin tallied two goals during their loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday evening. Panarin tallied his first goal of the evening in the second frame on a wrist off an assist from Adam Fox. Then, later in the third, Alexis Lafreniere earned the lone helper on Panarin's second tally of the evening. This outing snapped a five-game goal drought for Panarin and a two-game point drought. After opening the season by scoring 15 points through his first eight contests, Panarin has taken a slight step back, scoring 11 points in his past 11 games. Despite the drop in production, Panarin is still a safe bet to get on the scoresheet nightly as he continues to see top minutes during both even-strength and on the power-play.

Alexis Lafreniere Extends Point Streak With Game-Winning Goal

New York Rangers winger Alexis Lafreniere took his point streak to four games with the game-winning goal in Sunday's 2-0 victory at Seattle. He opened the scoring at the 17:30 mark in the second period. Zac Jones added a second goal for the Rangers early in the third. Lafreniere now has two separate point streaks of at least four games this season, notching 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in 16 games overall. He recorded two such streaks during the entire 2023-24 campaign. The 23-year-old has taken another step forward in his game and looks primed to see a lot more success as the partner of Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck on the second line.

Jonathan Quick Keeps Kraken Quiet

New York Rangers goaltender Jonathan Quick stopped 24 shots to collect his second consecutive shutout in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Seattle. The veteran was in action for the fourth time this season and maintained a perfect record. Quick is now the fourth goaltender in league history to win four consecutive starts to begin a season at age 38 or older. With Igor Shesterkin firmly positioning himself as the No. 1 at the club, Quick doesn't get a lot of action. But he has been very reliable for the Rangers, allowing only 0.91 goals this season with a spectacular .970 save percentage.

Filip Chytil Exits With Injury Thursday

New York Rangers center Filip Chytil (upper body) suffered a new injury blow in Thursday's 3-2 victory over San Jose. He sustained an upper-body injury in the second period in a collision with teammate K'Andre Miller. Chytil went scoreless across 9:37 of action with one shot on goal. The 25-year-old has a history of head injuries, which makes his exit very concerning. Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette has labeled Chytil as day-to-day, but he is still being evaluated for the injury. A concussion limited Chytil to only 10 appearances last season. He's been in good form in 2024-25, bagging nine points (four goals, five assists) in 15 games as the third-line center.

Jonathan Quick Stands Tall In 37-Save Shutout

New York Rangers goaltender Jonathan Quick led the way for the Rangers on Saturday evening as he posted an impressive 37-save shutout to defeat the Detroit Red Wings. The Rangers were heavily outshot but their veteran netminder was able to keep them in the game. The 38-year-old has made only four appearances this season (three starts) as Igor Shesterkin has dominated time in the crease. During this span, Quick has posted a strong 3-0 record with a .964 SV% and a 1,17 GAA. Shesterkin struggled in his last start as he surrendered a season-high five goals which could open the door for Quick to see more opportunities in the crease. For now, fantasy managers in shallower formats should view Quick as a solid streaming option but could be worth stashing in deeper formats as he could be in line for an increase in playing time.

Igor Shesterkin Stops 40 Shots Versus Senators

New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin showed off good form in Friday's 2-1 win over Ottawa, saving 40 of 41 shots. Only a late Adam Gaudette strike slipped past Shesterkin, who recorded a second consecutive game with 40-plus saves. The Rangers No. 1 had a couple of rough outings at the end of last month, but he's been rock-solid for most of the campaign so far. Through eight starts, Shesterkin boasts a 5-2-1 record and one shutout. He has allowed 2.25 goals with a .931 save percentage. Among goalies who have started at least five games, only Anaheim's Lukas Dostal (.945) has been more effective with his work than Shesterkin.

Alexis Lafreniere Signs Seven-Year Extension With Rangers

New York Rangers winger Alexis Lafreniere has landed a seven-year, $52.15 million extension. The first pick of the 2020 draft will now be tied with the team through the 2031-32 season. His new contract will have a $7.45 million cap hit. Lafreniere got handsomely rewarded for a breakout campaign. After mostly struggling through his first few years in the league, he posted 28 goals and 57 points in 82 games last season. Lafreniere then went on to play a key role in the playoffs, amassing 14 points (eight goals) in 16 games. The 23-year-old has maintained the momentum in 2024-25, averaging a point per game through the first seven games, with four goals and three assists to his name.
