San Jose Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic missed Friday's game against Carolina with an illness and it's unclear if he is feeling well enough to return to the lineup for Saturday's matchup versus Pittsburgh. The veteran blue-liner took a night off for the first time this season on Friday. Vlasic is currently in the midst of an eight-game point drought, but he has notched one goal and 11 assists in 49 outings with 41 shots, 26 hits and 74 blocks. Newly acquired Jacob MacDonald was entered into the lineup on Friday and looks set to stay there if Vlasic isn't able to return against the Penguins.

The veteran blueliner has just five points for the year, and he's never put up big scoring numbers, but the 33-year-old has got bags of experience and is willing to put his body on the line for the team, which has resulted in 50 blocks in 37 games this season. He's a valuable player in real life but not so much in fantasy hockey.
