Arizona Coyotes defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson announced his retirement from the NHL on Sunday. The 34-year-old spent 14 seasons in the NHL, including 10 with the Chicago Blackhawks in which he won the Stanley Cup three times (2010, 2013, 2015). Hjalmarsson, one of the game's better defensive blueliners during his prime, collected 172 points (25 goals, 147 assists) and a plus-106 rating while averaging 20:11 of ice time in 821 career games. The Swedish native was taken in the fourth round (108th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
