Patrice Bergeron News
Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron added another Selke Trophy win to his long list of achievements. The Bruins captain bagged the award for a second consecutive year, and he's now one of eight players to win the same NHL award at least six times. As one of the premier defensive forwards in the league, Bergeron has been nominated for the Selke Trophy for an incredible 12 straight years, which is a league record in a single category. However, the streak could very well stop here, as the 37-year-old veteran was close to retiring last summer and is reportedly pondering the same again.
Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron (upper-body) made his return to the lineup and scored a power play goal in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss against the Panthers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference first-round series. Bergeron was sidelined for the start of the series with both an illness and upper-body injury, but the Bruins were able to take three of the first four games in the series without their captain. Bergeron found the back of the net in the second period for the equalizing goal at the time, but the Bruins were unable to close out the series on home ice. Bergeron's return is a great addition for the forward core and the Bruins will have another chance to end the series in Game 6 on Friday night.
Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron (upper body) is regarded as a game-time decision for Wednesday's clash with Florida. The Bruins captain has yet to play in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but he appears to be on track to rejoin the lineup Wednesday, with the team making the final decision on his availability after the warmups. Boston hasn't really missed Bergeron in the series, grabbing a 3-1 lead, but he makes a welcome return, especially with David Krejci (upper body) remaining out for Game 4. Bergeron is slated to skate with David Pastrnak and Tyler Bertuzzi.
Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron (upper body) hasn't traveled with the team to Florida and will remain out for the next two games, starting with Friday's Game 3 of the series, but it's considered likely that he will be back for Game 5 when the series returns to Boston next week. The Bruins captain was in and out of the lineup during the final weeks of the regular season and he hasn't yet featured in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday.
