New Jersey Devils defenseman Sami Vatanen is set to see his first action of the season in Thursday's road game against Boston. The 29-year-old has had a pretty bizarre 12 months, as the Devils traded him to Carolina a year ago and he appeared in seven playoff games for the Hurricanes, but he returned to New Jersey on a one-year deal this January. Vatanen is a power-play specialist who has 194 points in 434 career games. New Jersey's power play is among the league's worst, so they clearly need some help there. However, the Bruins boast the league's second-best penalty kill, so Vatanen likely won't have much joy on Thursday. Dmitry Kulikov will also join the lineup in Boston after coming off the COVID-19 list.
