Arizona Coyotes center Travis Boyd (upper body) is looking at a lengthy absence, with Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports reporting that the 30-year-old will be out for weeks. Boyd's spell on the sidelines starts Saturday versus St. Louis. He's landed on the shelf after scoring in back-to-back games. The veteran averages less than 10 minutes a night for Arizona but has done well in limited opportunities, collecting eight points in 16 games. Ryan McGregor is expected to slot into the lineup in Boyd's place.

Boyd had been enjoying a breakout season for the Coyotes with 13 points in 22 games. That included five points in his previous six contests. Boyd had been seeing more and more power-play time. This pushed him over the 15 minute ATOI mark for the first time in his career. Boyd has played 16 or more minutes in 13 of his last 14 starts. Arizona expects to move players around and Barrett Hayton appears to be the getting the first shot as top-line center.

He had two shots on goal while blocking two shots. Boyd had two games where he did absolutely nothing on the scoreboard -- a total goose egg. He erased that dry spell quickly on Friday scoring just 2:46 into the contest. Boyd now has seven goals and six assists in 22 contests for Arizona and is a solid add still available on most waiver wires.

Arizona now has points in four straight games and Boyd has been a big part of that. The forward has played 16 or more minutes as well. He had two shots on goal, two scoring chances, and a hit. Boyd now has three points in his last three games as Arizona starts to show more signs of offensive life.
