SportsDataIO Launches Live Chainlink Node, Giving Smart Contracts Access to Premium Sports Data

SportsDataIO is excited to announce that we have officially launched our Chainlink node on mainnet, bringing premium sports data to decentralized applications across multiple blockchain environments. Smart contract developers can call our Chainlink node to receive real-time game scores, statistics, odds, projections, and news from major sports leagues, starting first with MLS and then expanding to the NFL in time for the season kickoff.

Leveraging our Chainlink node, developers can build novel smart contract applications such as blockchain-based fantasy sports leagues, eSports tournaments, prediction markets, or even dynamic NFT trading cards that update according to a team’s or an athlete’s real-world performance. If you are a developer, check out the following documentation to learn how to call the SportsDataIO Chainlink node and start consuming sports data today.

We selected Chainlink because it’s the most time-tested and widely used oracle solution, already securing billions of dollars for leading decentralized applications. Launching our Chainlink node was a very straightforward process that required minimal technical effort and time on our team’s part. Through our Chainlink node, we can sell data into previously inaccessible blockchain environments and sign our data to prove it originated from our API. This allows us to expand our business as a data provider while also making our data more reliable for usage within automated blockchain applications.

SportsDataIO provides data about tens of thousands of sporting events each year. We serve all sports data verticals, including fantasy, sports betting, broadcast, media, and predictive modeling clients worldwide. Our team’s commitment to high-quality data feeds across various formats has earned us the FSGA Best Sports Data Providers award for 2018 and 2019, with clients like Fox Sports, Sports Illustrated, The Athletic, and Eurosport consuming our data. We allocate considerable resources to verifying and organizing sports data and combining it with news and images sourced from our dozens of data partners to give applications highly relevant and engaging information.

We are pleased to support emerging blockchain markets by providing our premium sports statistics, game scores, odds, and other datasets directly to blockchain applications through our Chainlink node. We believe this is just the beginning of a flourishing on-chain ecosystem of decentralized sports applications running across a multitude of blockchains.

“Expanding into a new business model as a blockchain-based data provider was made seamless through Chainlink, enabling us to spin up a node and get out existing APIs compatible with blockchain networks rather quickly,” stated SportsDataIO CEO Scott Gimpel. “We’re confident that developers using the SportsDataIO Chainlink node will be consuming premium sports data that’s been highly curated by our experienced team and secure infrastructure, leading to consistently correct outcomes for their smart contact applications.”

About Sportsdata.io

Originally branded as FantasyData LLC, the company was founded in 2008, and has grown to become a leading sports data company, providing real-time feeds across all major sports to both the fantasy and other industries. In recent years SportsDataIO has expanded their offerings to include aggregated odds data. By collecting and distributing odds from an ever-growing list of major North American sportsbooks SportsDataIO covers all markets across all major sports and competitions.

SportsDataIO was created by CEO Scott Gimpel out of necessity when a need for sports data feeds on a different project was met with a lack of market options and steep pricing for start-ups from incumbent competitors. Starting in 2013, SportsDataIO made a push into the global sports data market by launching new sports and more comprehensive coverage. Today, we provide general content feeds and industry-specific feeds custom tailored for sports betting, fantasy and fan engagement for all major professional and college sports, golf, NASCAR, top domestic & international soccer leagues and esports.

Headquartered in Philadelphia PA, SportsDataIO is privately held and debt-free, servicing more than 200 clients globally from betting to fantasy and beyond.
