Week 10 Fantasy Reactions
Great start to the week with the Falcons and Panthers rematch. Carolina needed revenge and they got it. Seahawks and Bucs flew over to Germany for an international matchup, maybe Tom will come back with a German model? The Dolphins put a beat down on the Browns, many are asking if Myles Garrett even played?? The Vikings won a thrilling game! I’m not sure we will see another game like that for a while!
The Bears fell just short of the division-rival Lions. Fields is looking mighty impressive, however! The Titans won a disgusting matchup versus the Broncos. The Chiefs took care of business in Kansas City, they even beat the spread by half a point. The Giants won another game, moving them to 7-2 and one step closer to the Eagles now that they lost to the Commanders on Monday night football. The Steelers were able to put it together on the field and take down the Saints 20-10.
Jeff Saturday and the Colts got a win against the Raiders. The Raiders are in shambles right now. They gotta figure something out. The Cowboys lost in dramatic fashion, blowing a 14-point lead in the second half to the stinky cheese Packers. The Cardinals and Colt McCoy got the win over John Wolford and the Rams while CMC and his new threads in San Fran took down the Chargers.
Lots of fun action in week 10, let’s dive into it!
Falcons vs. Panthers
This game was really just the D’Onta Foreman show. He ran the ball 31 times for 130 yards and a touchdown. Carolina only threw the ball 16 times because that is all you need to do when you’ve got a workhorse going in the backfield. I’m not calling Foreman a workhorse, he was used as one though! He was also the only fantasy-relevant player for Carolina. Laviska Shenault had a solid night but he is only rostered in 0.3% of leagues on ESPN. He was actually started in 0.0% of leagues. As I said, not much fantasy production from the Panthers, despite getting the win.
Atlanta only had 2 players worth noting for fantasy. Mariota and Drake London. Yep. That’s right. Another week with no fantasy production from the stud tight end Kyle Pitts. Hate to see it. Mariota had 17.7 fantasy points, mainly due to his 2 passing TDs. It often feels like when he has a good fantasy day, he has a rushing day. But that wasn’t the case this week. Better air attack for him, just didn’t get the win. Drake London did have a little fantasy resurgence. He scored 14.8 on a week when many were relying on him (because of byes).
Seahawks vs. Buccaneers
I thought for sure that the Seahawks would take down the Bucs over in Germany. Geno had been feeling himself and Kenneth Walker had been damn near impossible to handle! This was not the case over in Munich. Kenneth Walker could hardly get the run game going, and Geno wasn’t able to carry the Seahawks. Kenneth Walker finished with 13 fantasy points, mainly due to his involvement in the passing game. He caught 6 passes for 55 yards, giving him the bulk of his fantasy points. Geno led the Seahawks with 19 points from his 275 passing yards and 2 TDs. Not a bad day whatsoever. Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf had quieter weeks, each scoring 13 points. Tyler Lockett’s touchdown helped your lineup very much!
The Bucs had a better day over in Munich, Germany. Chris Godwin led the Bucs with 19 points off his 6 catches, 71 yards, and TD performance. Ole Tommy boy had 16 points. 258 passing yards and 2 TDs for him, Rachaad White was the story of the day. He led the Bucs once Fournette got hurt; White had 105 rushing yards and seems to be earning more and more time in the backfield. You may want to add him off waivers if you haven’t already! Mike Evans and Leonard Fournette had quieter weeks. We’ll call it veteran rest! I kid, I kid. I just wish each had good weeks because I have a dynasty share of Mike Evans and a redraft share of Fournette. Bucs get the win heading into their bye week.
Vikings vs. Bills
There is a solid chance this game will be considered the game of the year. We still have 10+ weeks of football left, but this game was incredible! Stefon Diggs had yet another monster game. 12 catches for 128 yards is an awesome day at work. 24.8 fantasy points and just a TD shy of a 30-point week. Love to see it. Despite all of the rumors, Josh Allen started for the Bills. He threw for 330 yards and a TD while tacking on 84 rush yards. That was huge because it put him at 19 fantasy points. Rushing QBs are cheat codes. Gabe Davis with another solid week scoring 21, Devin Singletary scored 15 largely impart to his 2 goal line TDs.
The Vikings were able to outlast the Bills in this nail-biter. Kirk Cousins and his gold chain led the way with 357 passing yards and a TD. Dalvin and CJ Ham took care of the rest on the ground. Dalvin scored 23 fantasy points from his 119 yards and TD. However, Justin Jefferson was the story of the day. Not only did he make one of the greatest catches I’ve ever seen (in a crucial situation), but he had 10 catches for 193 yards and a TD. 35 fantasy points. An incredible day for JJET.
Bears vs. Lions
The battle for last in the NFC North. I hate to call that, but it is what it is. These two teams FOUGHT for this game. The final score was 31-30. The Bears look to be figuring things out. They kept up with the offense that was first in scoring at one point this week. Justin Fields is coming into his own. Just shy of two straight weeks with 40 fantasy points. Barring some crazy outcome, he will finish as the QB1 two weeks in a row. 2 passing TDs and 147 rushing yards with 2 TDs to go with it. Cole Kmet is one of the largest beneficiaries of Fields’ breakout. Kmet had 2 TDs and 4 catches for 74 yards on top of it. Good for 23 fantasy points. Mooney, Montgomery, and Herbert all had quiet weeks.
The Lions escaped with the win this time. Goff had a decent day. 236 passing yards and 1 TD. He didn’t have to do anything special because the run game was finding the end zone and the defense did its job. Amon-Ra St. Brown had a solid day. 10 catches for 119 yards is good for 22 fantasy points. Jamaal Williams was the next-highest scorer with 11 points. His 59 yards and TD got him there. D’Andre Swift had yet another quiet week. He did have a rushing TD so his impact is still there. Just saving the young buck for next season if you ask me. Which sucks, because his managers were drafting him in the early rounds. Damn shame.
Broncos vs. Titans
I literally don’t think I saw this game on Redzone the entire game. Maybe Courtland Sutton’s awesome one-handed catch. But that is it. That just tells you how nasty this game was. Russell Wilson led the Broncos in fantasy production and he only scored 14 points. Plus, Jalen Virgil was the second-highest scorer. Who??? Courtland Sutton did end up having 12 points (6 catches for 66 yards), which is huge since the past three weeks he had 11 points combined. Nice to see him in the double digits again. Let’s find the end zone now. The run game was basically non-existent for the Broncos.
While the Titans didn’t have the best game, they got the W. Derrick Henry was kept in check by the Broncos’ front 7. He only had 52 yards rushing. The Titans were actually led by Ryan Tannehill and his 255 passing yards and 2 TDs. An unusual situation for the Titans. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine carried the Titans. He had 5 catches for 119 yards and both of Tannehill’s TDs. Good for 28.9 fantasy points. What a day! Henry let his managers down with just 8.7 points this week. A TD would have saved his week. Oh well.
Jaguars vs. Chiefs
The Jaguars got behind quickly in this game. Travis Etienne couldn’t get the rushing attack going like the previous few weeks. He managed to score 10 points, but after the hot streak he had the past few games, you expected more. Only 45 rush yards for Etienne. Trevor Lawrence had a respectable day. 21 fantasy points from 250 passing yards and 2 TDs. The story of the day for the Jags was Christian Kirk and his 31.5 fantasy points. He caught 2 TDs on top of 9 catches for 105 yards. Well done by the $72 million man.
The Chiefs had a hold of this game from the start. It was a quick 20-0 in the middle of the second quarter. Isiah Pacheco led the Chiefs’ backfield. 16 carries for 82 yards, a touchdown would have given him a great week, but not this week. Mahomes and Kelce led the Chiefs in fantasy, because of course. Mahomes had 31 and Kelce had 20 on his 6 catch, 81 yards, and TD day at work. Mahomes threw for 331 yards and 4 TDs. The big story would be Kadarius Toney and his 19-point week. He caught 4 passes for 47 yards and a TD. Looks like Kansas City may have found their Tyreek replacement.
Texans vs. Giants
I’ll tell you what, the Giants may be 7-2 now, but the Texans did not make it easy for them! The Texans fought until the final minute in this one. Davis Mills was able to throw for 300 yards and had 1 passing TD. Not a phenomenal day, but just shy of 15 points isn’t terrible. Dameon Pierce had another strong day with 17 carries for 94 yards and 2 catches for 28 yards. Only 12 points for the rook this week. A touchdown would have changed that…Nico Collins was the big man on campus for the Texans in week 10. He scored 16 fantasy points on 5 catches for 49 yards and a TD.
The Giants were obviously led by Saquon Barkley and his 152 rushing yards and TD (23 fantasy points). Daniel Jones threw for 200 and 2 TDs simply because that was all he needed to do. Saquon took care of the rest. Darius Slayton with yet another solid week. He scored 18.5 pts and now has 3 straight games of 11+ points. After Slayton, it’s a bit of a wasteland for fantasy points. Who cares! G-men roll on to 7-2.
Saints vs. Steelers
Speaking of wastelands, the Saints had almost no fantasy production. Juwan Johnson was the high score with 15 points. Chris Olave barely got involved, Jarvis Landry returned to the lineup and did nothing and Alvin Kamara could hardly get the run game going. Kamara only managed to have 26 rush yards and 3 catches for 19 yards. No scores. Tough. Bad day for the Saints.
The Steelers somehow managed to pull this one off. Probably because they were facing the Red Rifle Andy Dalton. Who Mike Tomlin is no stranger to. The Steelers won on the field, but fantasy-wise, not their best day. Kenny Pickett led them with 19 points, George Pickens had 14 in yet another week where he led the team in fantasy production, and Diontae Johnson and Najee Harris let down their managers yet again! Pain. I have plenty of both of them on my rosters. Such a shame. Matt Canada is wasting that talent.
Browns vs. Dolphins
I’ll tell you one thing; Nick Chubb is good against anybody. Doesn’t matter how good your run defense is, he is better. He scored 15 fantasy points (63 yards and a TD) against one of the better defenses versus running backs. Not too shabby. Jacoby Brissett did lead the Browns in fantasy points, he had 16 pts from his 212 passing yards, 40 rushing yards, and passing TD. Another solid week from Donovan Peoples-Jones! He racked up 99 yards off 5 catches, a TD would have propelled his week. Maybe next week. Amari Cooper really has to figure out how to score fantasy points at away games. The split between his home games and away games is insane.
The Dolphins had fantasy production all over. Tua led the way with 23 points. He threw for 285 yards and 3 TDs. That’s three straight weeks of 3+ TDs. Uno is on fire! Jeff Wilson Jr. continues to be a steal for the Dolphins. That 5th round pick would never be as beneficial as Wilson Jr. is to the team right now. He had 119 rush yards and a TD. 22 fantasy points for the young buck! Raheem Mostert wasn’t left out, however. He was able to rack up 65 rush yards and a score as well, which turned into 18.7 points. Love to see the run game taking off. Tyreek and Jaylen had quiet weeks. But they didn’t need to do much, apparently! The fact that the Dolphins can win 39-17 with Tyreek and Jaylen having only 100 receiving yards combined is insane. Tua gets the ball to anyone and everyone. Love what is brewing in South Beach right now.
Raiders vs. Colts
Look – when your franchise quarterback is on the podium in post-game, in tears, because he and his teammates are fighting their asses off only to be 2-7, you know it is time for a change. I think it’s too soon to fire Josh McDaniels. I never think firing a coach in year 1 is a good idea. Just my thoughts. But, something needs to change. They spent so much on Davante Adams to now have a worse record than last season. Poor Raiders fans. On the bright side, Davante Adams is balling out. He caught 9 passes for 126 yards and a score on Sunday. Good for 27.6 fantasy points. Josh Jacobs had another solid week with 22 points. He ran for 78 yards and a score while also catching 6 passes which gave him a nice PPR boost into the 20s. Derek Carr had a decent 17.9-point week and Foster Moreau should be a waiver target if you have the opportunity.
How about Jeff Saturday?! 1-0 as a head coach with no experience! I hate that people were dogging Jeff Saturday as if he was supposed to say no to an interim coaching position. That’s the offer of a lifetime, you don’t say no. You do you, Jeff. You know what Jeff Saturday did correctly? He FED Jonathan Taylor. 22 carries for 147 yards and a score. JT is back baby! I don’t see them fading him anytime soon. 24 points from JT. Even Matt Ryan put together a nice lil day for himself. 222 passing yards, 38 rushing yards, and 2 total TDs. That’s right. Matt Ryan had a rushing TD. We love that. Parris Campbell snuck in another impressive week. He scored 20 fantasy points. 7 catches for 76 yards and a score. It sort of falls off after that. Michael Pittman Jr. did manage to score 12 points, but I would love to see him flop with Campbell and be the one scoring 20 points. Totally has nothing to do with the number of teams I have him on. It will be interesting to see how the Colts’ remainder of the season turns out. They could have a chance at a Wild Card spot if they can put together a little win streak. You never know!
Cowboys vs. Packers
The Cowboys had this game. They blew a 14-point lead. Going into the 4th quarter it was 28-14 Cowboys. Dak’s 2 interceptions were the Cowboys’ downfall. He threw for 265 yards and 3 Tds, but the interceptions did him in. Putting him at 19 points versus the 23+ he could have had. Pollard led them with 115 yards rushing and a TD (21.8 pts) and CeeDee Lamb dominated the passing attack. He scored 38 fantasy points from 11 catches for 150 yards and 2 scores! Huge day for Lamb. Can’t forget Dalton Schultz, he caught 6 passes for 54 yards and a TD. Dak loves his TE. 17.4 points for Schultz.
Somehow, the Packers were able to beat a good team. So far, they haven’t been able to beat bad teams. So this was surprising yet not surprising at the same time. I’m going to say that is because Aaron Rodgers was in his bag this week. Christian Watson stepped up in a big way. He caught 4 passes for 107 yards and 3, yes THREE, touchdowns. A massive 32.7 points for the rook. Rodgers wound up with 224 passing yards and 3 TDs. 19.3 fantasy points is Rodgers’ high for the season. He didn’t have to carry the load because Aaron Jones dominated the run game. Jones had 138 yards and a TD. Love to see the Packers establishing the run. 23.6 points is Aaron Jones’s third-highest score this season.
Rams vs. Cardinals
Battle of the Back Up QBs! John Wolford and Colt McCoy faced off in this thriller. I use the term “thriller” loosely here because this game was not great. The Rams had very little production. Tyler Higbee led them in receiving with 8 catches for 73 yards (15.3 pts). Cooper Kupp left the game with an injury, so he ended with 2.9 points which I’m sure hurt fantasy matchups out there. Van Jefferson scored a TD and had 11.7 points and Darrell Henderson also found the end zone giving him 10.2 points. Not a great day for the Rams.
James Conner and his 2 TDs led the Cardinals. He only had 86 total yards, but his 2 Tds put the Cardinals in a good spot for a win. A huge 23.6-point day for Conner. DeAndre Hopkins was able to put together a 19.8-point performance on 10 catches for 98 yards. He is averaging 21.9 points per game since his return. Rondale Moore had a big game, he caught 9 passes for 94 yards (18.4 pts). Zach Ertz suffered a season-ending injury, so I would look for Trey McBride on your waivers!
Chargers vs. 49ers
The Chargers really struggled to get the offense going. You know when Justin Herbert throws for less than 200 yards and only has 1 TD that the offense most likely was not jiving. DeAndre Carter was the lucky recipient of Herbert’s 1 TD. Carter led the Chargers with 16.4 fantasy points. Austin Ekeler wound up with 13 points, but 7 of them were catches. He did not have the best day. Justin Herbert finished with 12 points, which is the 4th time this season he has had 12 or fewer points. Not the production we were expecting from Herbert.
The 49ers have been on a roll ever since Christian McCaffrey came to town. McCaffrey led the 49ers in fantasy points (17.7) but Elijah Mitchell, who was activated off the IR, led them in carries and yards. It will be interesting to see how that backfield shakes out going forward. Brandon Aiyuk led in receiving with 6 catches for 84 yards. Which is a 14.4-point fantasy day. No receiving touchdowns for the 49ers, hell, only one catch for George Kittle. I’m shocked he was not involved more. Jimmy G scored just under 16 points, and he can thank his QB sneak into the endzone for that. Otherwise, he would have had nearly 10 points on the day. The 49ers got the win, but they need to consistently be able to pass the ball if they want to make a playoff run.
Commanders vs. Eagles
Just like that, we no longer have an undefeated team in the NFL. The Commanders took down the 8-0 Eagles. I wish I could say Commander Heinicke led them, but really it was because the run game was unstoppable. Brian Robinson had 26 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown. Antonio Gibson even had a decent day with 44 yards and a score. Robinson scored 14.6, and Gibson scores 14.8. Solid days. Terry McLaurin was the leading receiver. Scarry Terry caught 8 passes for 128 yards. He didn’t find the end zone, unfortunately, but his team got the win so that was obviously the more important goal. He scored 20 fantasy points, however.
A.J. Brown had 1 catch for 7 yards, I’m going to guess that ankle injury severely limited his playing time. Quez Watkins wound up being the leading receiver. He had 4 grabs for 80 yards. 12-point day if he didn’t fumble. DeVonta Smith scored a touchdown, but only had 6 catches for 39 yards on top of it. However, 13.9 points is not bad, and surely helped lineups out there. This game had a strange ending to it. There were some questionable calls, or maybe just the main one, that would have given Philadelpia a shot to go down and potentially win the game. But here we are on Tuesday and the Eagles suffered their first loss.
