Fantasy Football Streaming Picks Week 5
Week 5 provides a much better slate of streaming quarterbacks, tight ends, and defenses. Teddy Bridgewater headlines the streaming quarterback picks since they face the Falcons awful defense. Amongst tight ends, look for Eric Ebron on waivers to pick up and stream with four weeks of juicy matchups. Even deep league streamer Ian Thomas faces an enticing matchup. Players and defenses listed in order of how I rank the Week 5 streaming picks. With that, we will dive into the Week 5 streaming quarterbacks, tight ends, and defenses.
Streaming Quarterbacks
Teddy Bridgewater at ATL
Guess who faces the atrocious Falcons defense? Teddy Bridgewater. Last week, we mentioned Bridgewater as a Week 4 Streaming Pick, and he delivered with 26.2 fantasy points (No. 4). He continues to rank highly with 1,148 passing yards (No. 6) and an 8.1 yards per attempt (No. 10), so touchdowns should follow soon. The Falcons allow the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks at 25.6 points per game and expect Bridgewater to take advantage of a juicy matchup. Bridgewater is the top Week 5 streaming quarterback pick.

Justin Herbert at NO
Rookie Justin Herbert ranks 10th with 20 fantasy points per game and pushes the ball down the field. Herbert displayed efficiency through three weeks with an 8.7 yards per attempt (No. 4) and a +27.2 Production Premium (No. 4). The struggling Saints defense allows the 7th most fantasy points to quarterbacks, and Herbert ranks as an upside Week 5 streaming quarterback since he also adds in rushing yards. Bridgewater projects as the safe, no doubt streaming pick, while Herbert provides the top-10 quarterback upside and potential.

Daniel Jones at DAL
Rank Cousins, Rivers, and Daniel Jones in any order, and it all feels gross. Jones faced a tough stretch against the Steelers, Bears, 49ers, and Rams. Through four games, Jones averages 10.8 fantasy points per game (No. 32). However, the Giants rank 6th with 40.8 team pass plays per game and 27th with a -7.33 Game Script. Since they throw a ton and play from behind, Jones should produce while facing a terrible Cowboys defense. The Cowboys allow the 6th most fantasy points per game with 23.0, and Jones averages over 34 rushing yards per game. There’s no doubt Jones played terribly, but it’s hard to fault him for the lack of running game and the tough matchups to start the season. With the rushing production and potential upside, he ranks above the veterans of Kirk Cousins and Philip Rivers.
Kirk Cousins at SEA
Anytime we look at a low volume passing offense like the Vikings ranking dead last with 27.5 team pass plays per game, it is risky to recommend a streaming quarterback option. With the low passing volume and production, Cousins ranks 29th with 13.2 fantasy points per game. However, the Seahawks allow the most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks with 28.3 per game. With the low passing volume, Cousins demonstrates efficiency with a +35.4 Production Premium (No. 2) and 8.8 yards per attempt (No. 3). An ideal box score includes roughly 250+ passing yards and 2+ passing touchdowns for a potential top-15 finish.
Philip Rivers at CLE
We went through the teams allowing the first and third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, and the Browns allow the second most with 25.7 fantasy points per game. Similar to Cousins, Philip Rivers hardly throws the ball since the Colts rank 28th with 32.2 team pass plays per game. The Colts also rank first in Game Script with a +7.02 average point differential, meaning they often play with a lead. Rivers averages a low 12.4 points per game (No. 31), and that’s concerning, but the matchup appears friendly enough as a deeper league streaming option.
Streaming Tight Ends
Eric Ebron vs. PHI
In some leagues, Eric Ebron is hanging around on the waiver wire. If so, then he’s worth a pickup immediately with the juicy matchup against the Eagles that allow the second-most fantasy points to tight ends (14.6). Through three weeks, the targets gradually increased from two, five, and seven that led to 8.8 fantasy points per game. After this week, the Steelers face four weeks of fantasy-friendly TE matchups with the Browns, Titans, Ravens, and Cowboys. Ebron ranks as the top Week 5 streaming tight end pick.
Mo Alie-Cox & Trey Burton at CLE
With Trey Burton added to the mix, Mo Alie-Cox is a riskier streaming tight end pick. Outside of Week 2, Alie-Cox hasn’t received enough targets with two, six, three, and two. In Week 3 and 4, he ran seven routes and caught four passes for 63 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Also, mentioning Trey Burton here since head coach Frank Reich talked up Burton as a critical role in this offense. In Burton’s first week back, he received five targets for two catches and 16 receiving yards and ran 17 routes. The Browns allow the 4th most fantasy points to tight ends with 12.9. With such a fantasy-friendly matchup, maybe both players could provide streaming tight end production? Alie-Cox is the touchdown upside play, and Burton looks like the PPR floor play in deeper leagues.

Ian Thomas at ATL
The 9.2% target share (No. 33) is brutal for Ian Thomas but expect a smash spot for all offensive players facing the Falcons weak defense. His fantasy production isn’t eye-popping either, with nine targets (No. 36), five receptions (No. 40), and 30 receiving yards (No. 55). He accumulated all those not so exciting stats through three weeks, with an average of 4.7 points per game (No. 39). Enough painting the downside, since the Falcons allow the 8th most fantasy points (11.5) to the tight end position. Check out how other tight ends have performed through four weeks against the Falcons.
Streaming Defenses
Arizona Cardinals at NYJ
Let’s keep this simple, the Jets offense is awful outside of Jamison Crowder, and possibly Le’Veon Bell if he returns. The Jets plan to hold out Sam Darnold out of Week 5 with a shoulder injury, meaning they plan to start Joe Flacco. Since the Cardinals allow the 10th fewest points per game at 23, expect them to keep the Jets offense in check and create turnovers with a couple of sacks as well. The Cardinals defense ranks as the top Week 5 streaming defense.
Cleveland Browns vs. IND
The strength of the Browns defense includes their run defense since they only allow 16.5 points per game to the running back position. They also rank 5th with 91.8 rushing yards allowed, and the Colts rely heavily on the run game with 32.2 team pass plays per game (No. 28). Prioritize the Cardinals, but the Browns project as a top-15 streaming defense pick in Week 5.
Dallas Cowboys vs. NYG
With basically no running game, the Giants offense stinks and ranks in the bottom five in rushing yards and passing yards per game. However, this is partly a product of four difficult matchups to start the year. It’s a little risky going with an awful defense, but the matchup looks too juicy to not recommend them as a Week 5 streaming defense facing a turnover-prone quarterback. Similar to how we target players facing the Falcons defense, target defenses that face the Giants until proven otherwise.
Houston Texans vs. JAC & Seattle Seahawks vs. MIN
A couple of other deeper league options include the Houston Texans vs. JAC and the Seattle Seahawks vs. MIN. The Texans and the Seahawks project as heavy favorites even with a high O/U.
