Aaron Sabato Earns Texas League Player of the Week
Minnesota Twins first base prospect Aaron Sabato took home Texas League Player of the Week honors for his performance at Double-A Wichita last week. Over six games, the 26-year-old went 10-for-24 (.417) with five doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI, seven runs scored, and he even stole one base. A 2020 first-round draft pick, Sabato struggled to a .209 batting average and .743 OPS with a 31.6 percent strikeout rate through the end of 2024, but looks to have finally begun to find his swing in 2025. An oblique injury delayed the start of his Double-A season until April 15, but through 37 games for the Wind Surge, the right-handed slugger has produced a .311 batting average with eight home runs and an improved 26.6 percent strikeout rate. What has always been a constant is a double-digit walk rate, and his 13.0 percent BB% has helped him to a strong .409 OBP so far this season. The UNC product could get a shot at Triple-A later this year, and he brings a powerful bat, so the Twins will want to see him finish strong if he's going to be in their 2026 plans.
