Adam Haseley Struggling This Spring

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Adam Haseley is struggling so far this spring as he competes for the starting center field job. The second-year outfielder is just 3-for-21 with nine strikeouts and manager Joe Girardi was non-committal on Haseley winning the job, which Haseley was considered the favorite for entering camp. Haseley's struggles have opened the door for speedster Roman Quinn, who is finally healthy after three separate stints on the injured list last season. Quinn isn't the hitter Haseley is, but plays great defense and has opened eyes this camp with his speed. Whoever wins the job will have late-round appeal in deeper leagues, but shouldn't be considered starting-caliber players in 12-team mixed leagues and smaller.

Adam Haseley In Concussion Protocol

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Adam Haseley is in the concussion protocol after being removed from Tuesday's Spring Training game. Haseley banged his head on the ground attempting to make a diving catch and has a cut on his forehead where his sunglasses scratched him. The Phillies will be cautious with their young outfielder, as they should be with head injuries, but Haseley should be fine and back with time to prepare for Opening Day. With Haseley sidelined, Roman Quinn will have a chance to get a leg up on the Phillies' position battle for the starting job in center field.

Adam Haseley Exits With Injury

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Adam Haseley(face) left Tuesday's spring training game with an apparent injury, according to Matt Breen. Haseley injured his face while diving for a ball in the outfield and was removed from the game. Haseley struggled in the majors last season, needing a .344 BABIP just to hit .266, but he is a former first-round pick with a solid track record in the minors and would carry some deep league sleeper appeal if he earns a starting job. Pending the status of his injury, speedster Roman Quinn would be in line to get more repetitions in center field, as he and Haseley are battling for the starting center field job in Philadelphia.
