Former Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell finalized a one-year, $530,000 deal with the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korean Baseball Organization on Saturday, according to a source familiar with the deal. Russell was non-tendered by the Cubs last year after serving a 40-game domestic-violence suspension. The 26-year-old was an All-Star in 2016 but has seen his stock decline dramatically after his suspension and when he hit a career-low .237 with nine home runs and 23 RBI when he returned in 2019. Russell hit 21 homers and drove in 95 runs during his All-Star season. He will play shortstop and second base in Korea while hoping to rebuild his reputation for a potential return to Major League Baseball.
