Alec Asher Sent Back Down To Triple-A

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Alec Asher has been sent down back to Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox after pitching two scoreless innings in Saturday's contest against the Colorado Rockies. The Brewers are facing numerous injuries to the pitching staff including Zach Davies, Wade Miley, and Chase Anderson so any fresh arm that can go more than one inning will look to make an appearance in this series with the Sky Sox being really close to Denver. In a corresponding move, Jorge Lopez was called up. Asher did not hold any fantasy relevance regardless of being in the MLB.

Brewers Claim Alec Asher Off Waivers

Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alec Asher was claimed off waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. Asher has been bouncing from team to team in his last couple of years, as he was originally with Philadelphia in 2016 before being traded to the Orioles in 2017. The Orioles then waived Asher, whom the Dodgers claimed, and now the Brewers will claim Asher after the Dodgers waived him. He has yet to pitch in the majors this year and only had a three-inning, one-run outing with Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City Dodgers. Asher will not have any fantasy relevance unless they plan to use Asher in their rotation and considering he didn't even make the Orioles terrible record-breaking rotation in 2017, there's a low chance he will be considered by the Brewers.

Results in Rotation Not Good for Alec Asher

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Alec Asher began the season in a middle-relief role, a spot he excelled in. His performance earned him a spot in the rotation over pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez, though he hasn't done much to make management feel good about their decision. In his latest start on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox, he took the loss, allowing six earned runs on six hits over five innings with two walks and one strikeout. In four starts since joining the rotation, he has allowed five earned runs or more four times. Baltimore should consider moving him back to the bullpen, where they have lost relievers Darren O'Day and Zach Britton to injuries. For now, he is an unstartable fantasy option.

Alec Asher Hit Hard in Loss, Easier Matchup Ahead

The Washington Nationals got on Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Alec Asher early Thursday, doing enough damage to win in the first inning. They got four in the first and chased Asher after four innings of work. He allowed five runs on seven hits with four walks and six strikeouts. Since being put into the rotation for pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez, Asher has allowed 13 runs in 12 1/3 innings of work, raising his ERA from 2.17 to 4.35. Asher can be a decent streaming option in the right matchups, and he gets an easier opponent ahead in the Chicago White Sox. He should only be considered in deep leagues at this point given his struggles.

Alec Asher Rebounds in Win, Has Difficult Matchup Ahead

After allowing six runs in two innings during his first start after being placed in the rotation, Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Alec Asher needed to prove that decision wasn't a mistake. He responded with a quality start, stifling the Boston Red Sox over 6 1/3 innings Friday. Asher allowed two runs on three hits with zero walks and five strikeouts. Before his blowup on May 28, Asher had been solid in every situation he was placed in. The outing lowered his ERA to 3.62 on the season. He has shown he can be a good streaming option, though his next start will be tough. The Washington Nationals are his next opponent and have scored the second most runs in the league this season.

Ubaldo Jimenez Moved to Bullpen, Alec Asher Starting Sunday

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez has had a rough season, posting a 7.17 ERA and 1.71 WHIP through 42 2/3 innings pitched. His poor play has gotten him removed from the rotation, and he will now pitch from the bullpen. Last season, this happened to Jimenez, and he responded well once he got another shot at starting, posting a 3.12 ERA over his final eight starts of 2016. Pitcher Alec Asher will take his start on Sunday against the Houston Astros. Asher has been primarily a bullpen arm this season but has made two spot starts against the Red Sox and Blue Jays, holding a 2.92 ERA.
