Bruce Maxwell Traded To The Giants

New York Mets catcher Bruce Maxwell has been traded to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. This is a minor transaction as Maxwell has been wallowing in the minors for the last three seasons. Bruce Maxwell Crushes First Home Run Of The Season Saturday

Oakland Athletics backup catcher Bruce Maxwell went 2-for-3 with a single and a two-run home run in Saturday's loss to the Royals. The blast came in the seventh inning and was Maxwell's first HR of the season. The backstop is now hitting .182 with a .207 on-base percentage and a .309 slugging percentage in 58 plate appearances this season. He should not be owned in any fantasy leagues.

Bruce Maxwell's Legal Issues Continue

Oakland A's catcher Bruce Maxwell's legal issues will bleed into the regular season. He had a settlement conference on Monday, but it was left unresolved. He will have another meeting on April 13. This means Maxwell will report to spring training without resolution in his legal issues, which stem from an October arrest for disorderly conduct and assault with a deadly weapon. Maxwell could still face punishment from MLB as well as legal ramifications, so for now the A's catching situation is one to avoid in fantasy. If Maxwell doesn't face a suspension, he should enter the season as Oakland's starting backstop.

Bruce Maxwell Nearing Resolution On Legal Issues

Oakland A's catcher Bruce Maxwell may be able to resolve his legal issues before spring training begins. Maxwell has a settlement conference scheduled for Feb. 12, where he could reach a plea deal for his arrest. Maxwell was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident when he allegedly pointed a gun at a food delivery person on Oct. 28. Of course, punishment could still come down from MLB, so Maxwell is not out of the woods yet. He is currently projected as Oakland's starting catcher, but he is not a fantasy option outside of very deep leagues. A suspension would only dampen his already limited value.
