Cameron Maybin Extends Hitless Streak To 26 At-Bats
New York Mets outfielder Cameron Maybin continued his season of attrition Thursday afternoon against the Rockies, extending his hitless streak to 26 at-bats to start his Mets career. That 26-game streak ties the Mets record for most hitless at-bats to start a tenure with the club. Fantasy managers may have seen Maybin as a solid option for steals, given the amount of playing time available with the club at the moment, but unfortunately, he hasn't had much opportunity to run. Maybin deserved better today, with two hard-hit balls, but still fantasy managers should now realize there are better options out there in all formats.
Cameron Maybin Joins Mets, Batting Third Wednesday
New York Mets outfielder Cameron Maybin has joined the major league roster and is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Braves. Maybin will get the start in left field and is batting third against Atlanta starter Charlie Morton. It will be interesting to see how he fares in his first game of the year, but in fantasy his value currently is virtually nill.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Cameron Maybin was traded to the Mets on Tuesday for cash considerations, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. Maybin had been playing with the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate in Iowa to start the year, as he is slashing .103/.186/.205 over 10 games. Puma reports that Maybin has been assigned to Triple-A Syracuse, although it seems like he could join the Mets soon given the number of injuries that have affected New York's outfield depth. Until he gets called up and shows that he can still hit though, managers can safely leave him on the waiver-wire.
Cameron Maybin Returns To Cubs On Minor League Deal
The Chicago Cubs and veteran outfielder Cameron Maybin have agreed to terms on a minor league contract on Friday. The deal includes an invitation to spring training. The speedy outfielder hit .247 and stole three bases between the Detroit Tigers and Cubs this past season. Maybin will be competing for a backup job for the Cubs, and outside of speed he doesn't offer much value in mixed season-long leagues as outfield depth.
Cameron Maybin Scratched From Saturday’s Lineup Versus Brewers
Chicago Cubs outfielder Cameron Maybin (stomach) has been scratched from Saturdays matchup with a stomach ailment. Maybin has been getting a lot of run with his new club, but doesnt offer much value to managers with just one stolen base on the year. Ildemaro Vargas will replace Maybin in the lineup and bat eighth. Vargas is nothing more than a dart throw in DFS.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Cameron Maybin has been removed from the clubs starting nine Saturday against Milwaukee and left-hander Brent Suter due to an illness. Kyle Schwarber will shift to left field, while Ildemaro Vargas will enter the lineup in place of Maybin. Since joining Chicago at the Trade Deadline, Maybin has had little fantasy impact, collecting a .667 OPS in 27 plate appearances. While he has some DFS intrigue when facing southpaws due to his low price tag, his 13 at-bats against lefties this year is too minute of a sample size to glean much info from. His next chance to rejoin the starting nine comes Sunday versus Brewers righty Adrian Houser.
Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant will not be among the clubs starting nine for Wednesdays contest against the Pirates and right-handed pitcher Joe Musgrove. Bryants absence paves the way for David Bote to hold down the hot corner, but also for Cameron Maybin to make his first start with the club and for Steven Souza Jr. to return to the lineup for the first time since Aug. 16. Bryant got back into the lineup Tuesday after an extended absence, but wound up taking six at-bats with Wednesday likely just a maintenance day as he continues to battle a wrist ailment. His next chance to return to the mix comes Thursday versus Pittsburgh and right JT Brubaker.
The Chicago Cubs brought aboard outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Detroit Tigers just prior to Mondays Trade Deadline. Having missed time in 2020 due to injury, Maybin has opened the year just 10-for-41 at the dish, but its his 2019 form (.858 OPS) that the Cubs are hoping to bottle. Detroit got back infield prospect Zack Short, who was ranked as Chicago's No. 21 prospect per MLB Pipeline. Whereas Maybin was likely to see playing time down the stretch with the Tigers, hes likely more of a platoon piece for the Cubs, which severely limits his fantasy intrigue in any format.
Detroit Tigers outfielder Cameron Maybin rejoined the club for Fridays contest against Cleveland, manning right field and batting seventh. Having been sidelined since July 30 due to a strained right quad, Maybin has five hits in his first six games, but also six strikeouts. Detroit seems committed to giving Maybin an everyday look in the outfield for the time being, which could make deep season-long owners perk an ear up. In a corresponding move, Travis Demeritte was sent out to the teams alternate site and Victor Reyes figures to lose everyday playing duties, zapping both of their fantasy intrigue.
Detroit Tigers outfielder Cameron Maybin was forced from Thursday's game versus the Royals in the ninth inning after beating out an infield single. He suffered a strained right quad as Victor Reyes came in to pinch run. Manager Ron Gardenhire announced after the game that Maybin will be placed on the 10-day IL, which would make the veteran droppable in the shortened season.
