Chase De Jong Lands On Injured List With Knee Injury
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chase De Jong (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with left knee inflammation, according to Jake Crouse of MLB.com. De Jong was hit in the knee by a line drive during Monday's game, but was able to remain in the game and complete five full innings against Arizona. He hasn't been particularly useful in fantasy this year, as he's 1-4 with a 5.77 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings of work. Along with this move, the Pirates recalled reliever Nick Mears and starting pitcher Max Kranick. The Pirates have not made it official yet, but it seems like Kranick could move into the rotation while De Jong is out.
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chase De Jong allowed five runs on nine hits over five innings of work with three strikeouts in an 8-0 loss to Colorado on Tuesday night. De Jong got no help from his offense, as they were limited to one hit on the night, and he now drops to 0-3 on the season with a 5.65 ERA over 28 2/3 innings of work. He's looked solid in a couple outings, but has been way too inconsistent to really be trusted at the moment. In deeper NL-only formats, he could be worth considering as a streaming option if he gets a favorable matchup.
Chase De Jong Throws Five Solid Innings Against Rockies
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chase De Jong allowed just one run on three hits and two walks over five innings of work against the Rockies on Sunday. De Jong was called up for a spot start Sunday while JT Brubaker was placed on the bereavement list, and in his first appearance of 2021 he struck out five over five innings of work but did not factor into the decision in a 4-3 loss to Colorado. De Jong will likely head back down to the minors after this, but going forward if he gets called up for a spot start again, he could be worth looking at as a streaming option depending on the matchup.
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chase De Jong has been recalled from the minors on Sunday. He will make the start against the Colorado Rockies, but fantasy managers shouldn't get excited. De Jong was absolutely crushed allowing 12 earned runs in his short stint with the Astros last season. To be fair, De Jong has posted a 3.60 ERA in Triple-A this season. The 27-year-old won't be an appealing streaming choice against the Rockies on Sunday.
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Chase De Jong pitched five innings Thursday, allowing seven hits and six runs while walking three and only striking out one. De Jong is now 0-3 on the season and was pitching effectively until the fifth inning. With runners on base, De Jong gave up a two-run single to Toronto's Justin Smoak followed by outfielder Steve Pearce taking him deep for a three-run homer. De Jong's ERA is now 7.85 as the Mariners search for answers in their rotation with four starters currently on the disabled list. It is unclear whether De Jong gets another start with 23 hits and 16 runs allowed through 18 innings this season.
