Chris Archer Placed On The 15-Day Injured List

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Chris Archer (pectoral) has been placed on the 15-day injured list. The veteran right-hander exited his start on Saturday against the Guardians early with pectoral tightness. He should be activated in time to cap off the regular season for the Twins. Minnesota selected the contract of Jharel Cotton from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move.

Chris Archer Will Start Sunday Vs. The White Sox

Minnesota Twins pitcher Chris Archer (hip) will return from the injured list to start Sunday against the Chicago White Sox. He was placed on the 15-day injured list with hip tightness retroactive to July 2. The 33-year-old owns a 2-3 record along with a 3.08 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 47:30 K: BB across 61 1/3 innings in 2022. While his ERA and WHIP are solid, the veteran isn't throwing deep into starts and has reached five innings just three times this season. Fantasy managers outside of deep-league formats should avoid using Archer as a streamer for Sunday's main slate.

Chris Archer Lands On Injured List With Hip Tightness

The Minnesota Twins placed right-hander Chris Archer (hip) on the 15-day injured list with hip tightness on Tuesday. The move is retroactive to July 2. Archer was scheduled to start against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, but he was scratched from the start and Josh Winder is lined up to start in his place. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli stated that he hope is that Archer will be back before the All-Star break. Archer has made 15 starts so far this year and he's gone 2-3 with a 3.08 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. While he's done a good job of minimizing the damage against him, he hasn't been pitching very deep into his starts. He's only pitched into the fifth inning of a game on four occasions so far and has yet to see the sixth inning of a game.

Chris Archer Scratched From Start Against White Sox

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Chris Archer has been scratched from his scheduled start on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox for undisclosed reasons. Rookie Josh Winder will get the start instead, rain permitting. If the 33-year-old was scratched due to an injury, we'll pass it along once we know more. Archer has a solid 3.08 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 61 1/3 innings over 15 starts for the Twins this year, but his 4.89 FIP is concerning, on top of the fact that he's only struck out a career-low 17.9% of the batters he's faced while walking a career-high 11.5%. Winder also has a nice 3.06 ERA and 1.16 WHIP while striking out 24 and walking 10 in 35 1/3 innings over eight outings (four starts). The right-hander has allowed just three earned runs in 21 1/3 innings over his four starts, but he'll still be a shaky fantasy streamer on short notice.

Chris Archer Tosses Five-Shutout Frames

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Chris Archer was sharp during Saturday's 6-0 win over the Rockies, tossing five-shutout frames to improve his record to 2-3. The veteran allowed just one hit and a walk in the contest while striking out five in the 78-pitch performance. Archer hasn't gone very deep into games this season, but he's managed to post a respectable 3.14 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 57 1/3 IP this season. Since the Twins have yet to let him eclipse 80 pitches in a start, his win total will suffer, but he remains a viable streamer for his upcoming matchup versus the Guardians next week.

Chris Archer Signs One-Year Deal With Twins

The Minnesota Twins have signed right-handed pitcher Chris Archer to a one-year deal worth $3.5 million. He is expected to join the team's starting rotation. The 33-year-old has been plagued by injuries over the past few years. He missed the entirety of the 2020 seasons after undergoing surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome. He was then held to just 19 2/3 innings with the Tampa Bay Rays last year and he posted a 4.66 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over that stretch. We'll see if he can rejuvenate his career from the backend of the Twins' rotation this year.

Chris Archer Considering Options With Hip Injury

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer (hip) has received multiple evaluations on his injured left hip. As of now, there has been no diagnosis other than hip inflammation. Archer was placed on the injured list after experiencing a recurrence of his left hip injury this weekend. He's only managed to appear in six games so far this year and he has gone 1-1 with a 4.66 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. There's a good chance that we won't see the 32-year-old veteran on the mound again this year.

Chris Archer Placed On Injured List

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer (hip) is heading back to the injured list. Archer had left his start on Saturday with a recurrence of left hip soreness, the same issue that pushed back his return from a separate injured list stay for forearm tightness. Reliever Nick Anderson was reinstated from the IL in a corresponding move. Archer has pitched in six games this season, posting a 4.66 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 21 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings. It's not known how long he will be out, but fantasy managers can let him go.

Chris Archer Exits Saturday’s Start Early With Hip Discomfort

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer (hip) exited Saturday's 7-2 win over the Detroit Tigers with left hip discomfort. He allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out two over four innings before exiting. The 32-year-old did not factor into the decision. The severity of his injury is unknown at this time, and he's considered day-to-day. Archer owns a 4.66 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts over 19 1/3 innings in 2021. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation and hope Archer can return to the mound soon. Stay tuned.

Chris Archer Picks Up First Victory

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer (1-1) allowed four runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three over five innings in Saturday's 11-4 victory over the Twins. He picked up his first win of the season. The 32-year-old labored through five innings and walked a season-high four batters on Saturday. Archer was hurt by the long ball and surrendered home runs to Jorge Polanco and Miguel Sano. He threw 78 pitches, firing 46 for strikes. The Rays right-hander owns a 5.28 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts over 15 1/3 innings in 2021. Archer can be used as a streamer in deep-league formats for his next start on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers.
