Cody Anderson's return to the Majors was short-lived as he has been optioned back to Norfolk after another bad start in Oakland Friday night. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as he boasts a 9.35 ERA in five appearances this season. It is yet another setback for Anderson, who missed the last two seasons after multiple surgeries on his right arm. This won't have any fantasy impact, as Anderson was barely an option in the deepest of fantasy leagues.
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Cody Anderson started in place of Corey Kluber (arm) on Sunday and it couldn't have gone much worse. He got just two outs, allowing four runs on two hits and three walks. He faced seven batters before getting the early hook and heading for the showers in the first inning. He might get another chance to start when his turn comes back around, but he won't be much of a fantasy option in any format.
Cleveland Indians pitcher Cody Anderson will make the start on Saturday against the Mariners, while Jefry Rodriguez will go on Tuesday against the White Sox as they fill in for Corey Kluber (elbow) and Mike Clevinger (back). Anderson has made three relief outings for the Tribe this year, posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 in just five innings. He could stick around in the rotation for a bit longer, but he's not a recommended streaming option this weekend because he's unlikely to last very long. Rodriguez has pitched well so far this year for the Indians and is a much more attractive streaming option in the short term.
Cody Anderson Will Throw His First Bullpen on Saturday
Cleveland Indians pitcher Cody Anderson(elbow) will throw his first bullpen session since undergoing Tommy John Surgery. He is scheduled to throw on Saturday. Anderson hopes to be ready for the beginning of the 2018 season, but Cleveland has the depth to allow him to come along slowly and will likely keep him out of games until later in April. He's looking at a role in long or middle relief, but there's a chance he's sent to Triple-A to work as a starter and provide some depth there. Either way, he won't have much fantasy value in 2018.
