Corbin Martin To Work Exclusively As Reliever

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Corbin Martin will work exclusively as a reliever heading into the 2023 season, according to manager Torey Lovullo. The 27-year-old has been working as both a reliever and starter throughout his career. Last season, Martin made seven appearances (two starts) with the Diamondbacks, but the results weren't favorable. Now, Martin is working only as a reliever and the organization is getting much better results. It sounds like Martin has a good chance of making the Opening Day bullpen, assuming he continues to look this sharp. However, he won't have much fantasy value unless he's able to snag the ninth-inning role at some point down the road.

Corbin Martin Will Start Sunday Against Washington

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Corbin Martin will start Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals. Dallas Keuchel was designated for assignment on Wednesday, opening a spot in Arizona's rotation. The 26-year-old pitched out of the bullpen earlier in the season, posting a 4.40 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and a 14: 6 K: BB across 14 1/3 innings. He owned a 5.10 ERA over 12 starts in 60 innings at Triple-A Reno. Managers in deep-league formats can use Martin as a streamer against the Nationals but might want to wait to see how the right-hander fares on Sunday before using him as a fantasy starter.

Corbin Martin Sent To Minors

The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned right-hander Corbin Martin to Triple-A Reno on Saturday and activated pitcher Brett De Geus after claiming him off waivers from the Texas Rangers on Wednesday. Martin allowed back-to-back home runs to the San Diego Padres in the 11-5 loss on Friday and has struggled this year. In five games (three starts) this year, he's 0-3 with a 10.69 ERA and 2.31 WHIP in 16 innings pitched. de Geus, 23, hadn't pitched much better with Texas before he was designated for assignment. The right-hander has an 8.44 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 26:13 K:BB in 19 relief outings over 26 2/3 innings. He will not be a fantasy option with his new club.

Corbin Martin Recalled From Triple-A Reno

Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Martin has been recalled from Triple-A Reno and is slated to start on Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants. Martin made two starts for the D-Backs back in May but struggled with a 9.00 ERA, 1.78 WHIP, and 8:7 K/BB ratio over nine innings pitched. Jon Duplantier was optioned after four horrible starts with the team so Martin will be taking his place. Martin is still just 25-years-old and has some appeal but fantasy managers don't need to rush to pick him up. It's better to take a wait-and-see approach with him.

Corbin Martin Recalled for Diamondbacks, First Start Unknown

The Arizona Diamondbacks called right-handed pitcher Corbin Martin back up to the big league club on Monday, although it is unclear when he will get his first start. Martin got off to a rocky start this season, allowing nine runs in nine innings pitched over two starts. The D-backs have yet to name a starting pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Giants, although it's unlikely they will send Martin to the mound in his first game back given that he allowed six runs on five hits against San Francisco on May 25 in an 8-0 loss for Arizona.

Corbin Martin Recalled By Diamondbacks

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Corbin Martin was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday, the team announced on Twitter. The No. 7 overall prospect in Arizona's system according to MLB Pipeline, Martin is joining the Diamondbacks to take over the roster spot vacated by Luke Weaver, who was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a right shoulder strain. Martin has been a strikeout machine throughout his career with a 27.8 percent strikeout rate over four seasons in the minors, and in 9 2/3 innings of work at Triple-A this year he has already recorded 14 punch outs. He could be an interesting waiver-wire option to pick up based on that strikeout potential.

Corbin Martin Sustains Oblique Strain, Likely Done For 2020

Arizona Diamondbacks right-handed pitcher Corbin Martin has been diagnosed with a strained oblique, which will require him to be shut down for a few weeks before he can be reevaluated. Ranked as Arizonas No. 11 prospect per MLB Pipeline, Martin was viewed as a potential callup at some point in 2020, but those odds are likely out the window due to the nature of the ailment. Martin made five starts last season with Houston before being dealt in the Zack Greinke deal, and while he allowed eight home runs across just 19 frames, his fastball averaged 95.2 MPH and produced an above-average spin rate, making him an intriguing keepers league asset.

Corbin Martin Among D-Backs Prospects In Player Pool

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher prospect Corbin Martin, the team's No. 7 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has been included on the team's 60-man roster for spring training 2.0. Along with Martin, top prospects Alek Thomas (No. 2), Daulton Varsho (No. 3), shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (No. 4), Corbin Carroll (No. 5), Luis Frias (No. 8), Levi Kelly (No. 9), J.B. Bukauskas (No. 10), Seth Beer (No. 12) and Bryce Jarvis (first-round pick this year) are also on the roster for the shortened season. While a couple of these names might make their MLB debut this summer, it's probably more unlikely than probable that they'll see much action, let alone have any fantasy value in redraft leagues.

Seth Beer, J.B. Bukauskas, Corbin Martin Heading To Arizona

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired first baseman/outfielder Seth Beer, right-hander J.B. Bukauskas, righty Corbin Martin and infielder Josh Rojas from the Houston Astros on Wednesday in the blockbuster deal that sent starting pitcher Zack Greinke to the Astros. It's one big prospect haul for the D-Backs, as Beer was ranked as Houston's No. 3 prospect, while Bukauskas came in at No. 4, Martin at No. 5 and Rojas at No. 22. With Houston's major league roster already stacked at most positions, this trade now means that Beer, Bukauskas and Martin are much closer to major league action in the desert. Beer is the most fantasy relevant and could be the team's starter at first base at some point next year. Martin has plenty of upside but might not be an option until 2021 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Corbin Martin Injured In Minors

Houston Astros starting pitcher Corbin Martin (elbow), the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is in Houston this week being examined after suffering a potentially serious elbow injury during his start for Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday. He allowed three runs and six hits while striking out five in four innings before being pulled. Martin was 1-1 with a 5.59 ERA in five starts for the Astros earlier this year and should be mixed league relevant whenever he sticks in the rotation for the long term. However, his elbow injury may set him back in his development significantly. Stay tuned for more details on the exact nature of his arm injury.
