Craig Breslow Mentions No Untradeable Players For Red Sox
Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow said Monday that "everything is on the table" when asked if the team has any untradeable players heading into the 2025 season, per The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey. The Red Sox finished the 2024 season with an 81-81 record, missing the playoffs for the third consecutive season. Rafael Devers has anchored the team's lineup, but they also have young talent in Triston Casas as well as intriguing outfielders Jarren Duran and Tyler O'Neill. The team also had a breakout season from starter Tanner Houck and have several other pitchers who could draw interest, such as Kutter Crawford and Nick Pivetta. From a fantasy perspective, Devers will carry high fantasy value regardless of the lineup he hits in. Other players would likely be affected more depending on their new homes and team context. Fantasy managers will have some downtime before the hot stove gets fired up, but they should keep an ear out for any rumblings from the Red Sox.
Free agent (for less than a day) relief pitcher Craig Breslow was released by the Blue Jays on Saturday, but Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports that the Blue Jays will sign Breslow to a minor league contract. The Blue Jays released Breslow after posting a 6.14 ERA and 1.91 WHIP in the Grapefruit League. He will likely go to Triple-A Buffalo and serve as insurance towards an injury to one of Toronto's relievers.
Craig Breslow Signs a Minor League Deal With the Indians
The Cleveland Indians signed left-handed relief pitcher Craig Breslow to a minor league contract. With Andrew Miller on the disabled list suffering from patella tendinitis, the Indians are scuffling for a left-handed reliever to join Joe Smith, Bryan Shaw, and Cody Allen in the back of the bullpen. Breslow likely isn't that guy, but on a minor league deal, it's a low-risk move.
