David Freese Primed For Postseason Stage

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder David Freese will take a career .291/.365/.546 slash line into Game 1 of the NLDS against the Nationals on Thursday. The veteran will enter the postseason swinging a sharp stick offensively as well, slashing .339/.379/.581 over his last 62 at-bats. Freese has enjoyed plenty of memorable postseason moments, and few will forget that the slugger posting 13 extra-base hits and 21 RBI through 18 playoff games with the Cardinals in 2011. Freese may not crack the lineup in every playoff game for a stacked Dodgers lineup, but he will be an underrated threat in October when facing left-handers.

David Freese To Return Sunday, Alex Verdugo Behind

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that corner infielder David Freese (hamstring) will come off the injured list on Sunday, Sept. 1. Outfielder Alex Verdugo (oblique) is still dealing with soreness and won't be activated the first week of September. Freese will return to a bench role for the final month. He doesn't have much appeal in redraft leagues, but he's useful against lefties when he starts in DFS. Verdugo is hitting a nice .294/.342/.475 with 12 home runs, 43 runs, 44 RBI and four steals on the season. The Dodgers won't rush him back, though, as he'll likely be a big part of their postseason push. With time running out, Verdugo will have very little time to help fantasy owners the rest of the way.

David Freese Aiming For Sept. 1 Return

Los Angeles Dodgers corner infielder David Freese (hamstring) was running the bases on Thursday in advance of a Sept. 1 return. Freese has been out since July 24 but should be back with the Dodgers for the stretch run. He'll continue to be a utility player/pinch-hitter for a strong Dodgers club. When he's been in the lineup he's been successful, batting .300/.399/.579 with nine home runs and 27 RBI. Freese only has 140 at-bats on the year, though, so he's mainly useful in DFS contests when facing a left-hander.

David Freese Lands on Injured List

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman David Freese (hamstring) has been placed on the 10-day injured list. It's unclear how long Freese is going to be sidelined, so anyone who owns him should prepare to be without him for a few weeks. Tyler White has been added to the roster in a corresponding move. White will likely play against left-handed pitching.

A.J. Pollock, David Freese To Face Live Pitching Sunday

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder A.J. Pollock and first baseman David Freese are set to face live pitching Sunday as they both work their way back from injury. Pollock has been out since April 30 with an elbow infection while Freese has been sidelined for just a week with a hamstring strain. Freese likely won't need many reps before returning to the Dodgers roster as soon as this week, but Pollock will need more seasoning with rehab assignments and won't be back until after the All-Star Game. Neither are worth scooping up for fantasy purposes outside of NL-only leagues, but Pollock may be worth grabbing when we get a firmer timetable upon his return.

David Freese Expected To Return Next Week

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that third baseman/first baseman David Freese (hamstring) is expected to return next week before the All-Star break. Freese is mostly limited to NL-only leagues in year-long formats because of his limited playing time. He's much more useful in DFS as a notorious lefty killer. The 36-year-old is hitting .308/.407/.592 on the season with eight homers, 30 runs and 23 RBI in 120 at-bats. Against left-handers this year he's hitting .257 (18-for-70) with four home runs and eight RBI. He's actually hitting much better against righties, going 19-for-50 (.380) with four homers and 15 RBI.

David Freese Hasn't Resumed Baseball Activities

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman David Freese (hamstring) has yet to resume baseball activities, and he is still receiving just treatment for his left hamstring strain. Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that he is hopeful Freese will be back after the All-Star break, perhaps sooner. Fantasy owners will want to keep him reserved in all leagues until he can officially return and make his way through a full game or two without any setbacks before plugging him back into the active lineup.

Dodgers Place David Freese On IL, Recall Will Smith

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed first baseman David Freese on the 10-day IL retroactive to June 21 with a left hamstring strain. The veteran is having a fine year in his part-time role batting .308 with eight homers and 23 RBI in 56 games getting the majority of starts against southpaws. He's surprisingly hitting right-handers much better to a .380 average but struggles to find everyday playing time with the left-handed heavy Dodgers lineup. The team recalled catcher Will Smith in a corresponding move who shined in a six-game stint earlier this year. With Austin Barnes and Russell Martin on the roster, Smith won't find much playing time and can be ignored in all formats.

Dodgers Being Cautious With David Freese

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that first baseman David Freese (knee) is dealing with some knee soreness and the team is being cautious with the 36-year-old. Freese wasn't in the lineup on Monday but was available off the bench. As a utility corner infielder for the Blue this year, Freese is hitting a nice .293/.412/.576 with six long balls, 24 runs and 19 RBI in 99 at-bats. He's mostly useful in NL-only and DFS leagues when he's facing a left-hander. Freese has always been known as a lefty killer, although he's hitting .255 (14-for-55) against them this season with three home runs and six RBI.

David Freese Working On 10-Game Hitting Streak

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder David Freese made another start at first base on Tuesday in Arizona, going 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and two RBI to push his hitting streak to 10 games. He is 14-for 29 (.483) with 11 runs scored, three homers and nine RBI during his impressive run, pushing his average up from .219 to .301 as a result of the streak dating back to May 18. Freese hit .385 in 19 games down the stretch with the Dodgers after coming over from the Pirates midseason and he hasn't shown any signs of slowing down.
