The Chicago Cubs have outrighted relief pitcher Dillon Maples to their alternative training site on Thursday. Maples struggled mightily with his command on Wednesday and failed to record an out versus the Reds. Maples was once a promising arm in the Cubs system, but he has struggled in his time at the big league level.
Chicago Cubs relief pitchers Dillon Maples and Tim Collins have been recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday. Maples has electric stuff, but his control still isn't there as he has five walks in 2 2/3 innings this season with the Cubs. The veteran lefty Collins pitched well in the minors, but doesn't have much fantasy value. Righty reliever James Norwood and outfielder Mark Zagunis have been optioned to the minors in a corresponding move. Maples could have some fantasy value if the Cubs give him save chances, but he needs to figure out his control problems first.
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood (hip) has been placed on the 10-day disabled list. It appears that Chatwood is dealing with hip inflammation, so the Cubs will shut him down for a bit. Righty reliever Dillon Maples has been recalled from Triple-A to take the spot on the active roster. Maples is not worth owning in fantasy leagues at the moment.
