The Arizona Diamondbacks have released more than 60 minor league players over the last couple of weeks amid the coronavirus pandemic, with veteran right-handed pitcher Edwin Jackson and outfielder Travis Snider among them. Some of the other names include outfielder Dalton Pompey and pitchers Aaron Blair, Mauricio Cabrera, Damien Magnifico, Michael Tonkin and David Huff. Jackson, 36, had a rough 9.58 ERA in 67 2/3 innings with the Blue Jays and Tigers in 2019. But he was a key piece of Oakland's rotation down the stretch in 2018 and has pitched for more teams than any player in MLB history with 14. Snider, 32, hasn't been in the big leagues since 2015, but the former first-round pick hit .294/.402/.497 in 93 games with Triple-A Reno last season.

The Arizona Diamondbacks signed outfielder Jon Jay and pitcher Edwin Jackson to minor league deals on Monday. Jay will make $1.5 million if he's on the major league roster with another $1.75 million in incentives, according to USA TODAY's Bob Nightengale. The 34-year-old (35 in March) played in just 47 games for the White Sox last year due to injuries, and he hit a weak .267/.311/.315 with no homers and nine RBI. Jay will compete for a reserve outfield spot and probably won't have any fantasy value beyond deep NL-only leagues if he makes the team out of spring training. Jackson, 36, had a nightmarish 9.58 ERA and 2.03 WHIP in 13 starts and five relief outings for the Blue Jays and Tigers last season. At best, he might be looking at a long-relief role for the Snakes.

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Edwin Jackson will draw the start versus the Kansas City Royals on Friday. Jackson posted an 11.12 ERA in eight games (five starts) with the Blue Jays earlier this season. The veteran righty is not worth streaming on Friday, even against the not great Royals offense. He should be avoided in all fantasy formats.
