Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent right-hander Elieser Hernandez to a minor-league deal on Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, according to sources. Hernandez last pitched in the big leagues with the Miami Marlins in 2022, when he went 3-6 with a career-high 6.35 ERA (6.40 FIP) and 1.43 WHIP with 22 walks and 60 strikeouts in 62 1/3 innings over 20 appearances (10 starts). The 28-year-old Venezuelan spent the 2023 campaign at three minor-league levels with the New York Mets, posting a much better 2.89 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 12 strikeouts in just 9 1/3 innings over eight outings (four starts). Hernandez's season was cut short by a pectoral injury. He'll give the Dodgers some starting and relief depth in the minors to open the 2024 season.

Elieser Hernandez Restarting Rehab Assignment On Sunday
New York Mets starting pitcher Elieser Hernandez (shoulder) is restarting his rehab assignment for Class-A Brooklyn after having a setback in his previous attempt with Single-A St. Lucie. Hernandez has been out all year while dealing with a right shoulder strain and was shut down from his last rehab assignment back on June 14. He has no timetable for his return at the moment but it's encouraging that he's starting another assignment at the moment. Hernandez struggled with a 6.35 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 62 1/3 innings with the Marlins last season but the Mets are in desperate need of starting pitcher help.

Elieser Hernandez Avoids Arbitration
The New York Mets and pitcher Elieser Hernandez agreed to a one-year, $1.6 million deal to avoid salary arbitration. Hernandez will begin a new chapter with the Mets in 2023 after spending five seasons in Miami. The 27-year-old split his 2022 season as a starter and middle-inning reliever. He posted a 6.35 ERA across 62 1/3 innings and 60 punchouts. Hernandez was not the most effective pitcher in 2022, although we have seen success in previous years. With a change of scenery in Citi Field, Hernandez may have an opportunity to turn the tables. However, he is mainly on the fantasy radar in deep-league league formats.

Elieser Hernandez And Jeff Brigham Shipped To Mets
The New York Mets have struck a deal with the Miami Marlins for two right-handed pitchers, Elieser Hernandez and Jeff Brigham, just days after each was designated for assignment. The Marlins receive minor league pitcher Franklin Sanchez in return. Hernandez is the more prominent name of the two, as he made 90 appearances including 48 starts over five seasons in Miami, recording a 5.04 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 277 strikeouts in 287 1/3 innings. Both will serve as depth for the Mets, who have seen most of their pitching staff enter free agency.

Elieser Hernandez Placed On Injured List
The Miami Marlins placed right-hander Elieser Hernandez on the injured list on Thursday, and no reason has been listed, so it's assumed he's going on the COVID-19 injured list. In a corresponding move, right-hander Tommy Nance has been recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville. Hernandez has made 14 appearances (nine starts) for the Fish in 2022 and hasn't fared all that well, going 2-5 with a 6.11 ERA and 1.39 WHIP while striking out 52 and walking 18 in 53 innings pitched. He shouldn't be rostered in fantasy leagues. Nance, 31, has a 6.14 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, 30 strikeouts and 12 walks in 22 relief innings for the Marlins this year in just his second season in the majors.

Elieser Hernandez Optioned To Triple-A
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Elieser Hernandez was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, according to Craig Mish. The 27-year-old has had a rough go this season, posting a 2-5 record, 6.75 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 47:15 K/BB ratio over 48 innings (11 appearances, nine starts). He posted just one quality start and served up a whopping 18 home runs over his 11 appearances. Left-hander Braxton Garrett will take Hernandez's spot in the rotation and start tomorrow vs. the San Francisco Giants.

Elieser Hernandez Expected To Start Monday Against The Angels
Miami Marlins pitcher Elieser Hernandez (forearm) will start against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. He exited his final Spring Training start after being hit in the right forearm by a line drive, but won't miss any time. According to Marlins manager Don Mattingly, Hernandez is fine and will make his start on Monday in Anaheim. The 26-year-old posted a 1-3 record, a 4.18 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and a 53:14 K: BB over 51 2/3 innings in 2021. Hernandez is in line for two starts next week, and fantasy managers can use him as a streamer in most league formats.

Elieser Hernandez Suffers Forearm Contusion Tuesday
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Elieser Hernandez (forearm) left his Grapefruit League outing against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday with a right forearm contusion after being hit by a comebacker. The line drive that hit his arm had an exit velocity of 105 mph off the bat of outfielder Tyler O'Neill. Hernandez is fortunate to have avoided a more serious injury on the final day of spring training. The 26-year-old should be able to enter the season as a member of Miami's starting rotation, and he's tentatively scheduled to make his season debut on Sunday on the road against the San Francisco Giants. Hernandez went 1-3 with a 4.18 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 53 strikeouts and 14 walks in 51 2/3 innings over 11 starts in his fourth big-league season in 2021.

Elieser Hernandez Throws Two Strong Innings On Monday
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Elieser Hernandez got the start in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the New York Mets and pitched well, allowing just one hit while striking out three in two innings. Hernandez has missed some time with injury over the past few seasons, but he's been more than solid when on the mound. He's a risky fantasy asset because of the injury possibility, but he's got enough upside to make it easy to see the risk paying off.

Elieser Hernandez Throws Five Good Innings On Wednesday
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Elieser Hernandez pitched well on Wednesday, providing five innings while allowing two runs on six hits. He did not issue a walk and struck out six. Hernandez ended up missing most of the season due to two long trips to the injured list, but he's been good when healthy and should be a part of the Marlins rotation plans for next season. He recently added a two-seam fastball to his arsenal, and has been getting more swings and misses as a result.
