Right-handed reliever Fernando Rodney is attempting to make it back into the Major Leagues, this time as a member of the Houston Astros, who have assigned him to their alternate training site after signing him to a contract. At 43 years old, should Rodney make the Astros bullpen, he would appear for his 12th different big league club. After splitting 2019 between the Oakland As and Washington Nationals and producing a 5.66 ERA and poor 13.3% walk rate in 47.2 innings, Rodney doesnt figure to be a season-long fantasy contributor barring significant blows to the current Houston bullpen hierarchy.

Those who are in need of saves need to immediately pick up Addison Reed, as he should now be in the closer role in Minnesota.

He did allow two hits and walked a batter, but was able to escape scot-free. With Rodney there will almost always be drama, but at 41-years-old he's still proving his worth. The Twins are nine games behind the Cleveland Indians for the American League Central lead so technically they're still alive in the playoff hunt. That said, they will need Rodney who allowed 15 hits in 12 1/3 innings pitched in July to continue to limit the damage.
