Forrest Wall Inks Minor-League Deal With San Diego
According to MLB.com, the San Diego Padres have signed outfielder Forrest Wall to a minor-league contract. Wall has only appeared in 16 major league games over the past two seasons with the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins. Across this short stint, Wall has posted a .311/.380/.422 line with four stolen bases. Across 78 contests at the Triple-A level last season, the 29-year-old posted a solid .278/.381/.392 slash line with 11 doubles, six home runs, and 20 stolen bases. This was a solid improvement compared to the career .268/.356/.385 line he held at the Triple-A level. Fantasy managers should expect Wall to compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster. Given his solid contact skills and upside speed, he could have an outside chance of finding a bench role in San Diego to open the 2025 season.
Atlanta Braves rookie outfielder Forrest Wall, who has game-changing speed on the basepaths, is making a case to open the year on the team's Opening Day roster out of camp. Wall also plays all three outfield positions. He totaled 57 stolen bases in 66 attempts in 2023 at Triple-A Gwinnett and in the majors. Wall stole five bases in six tries in 15 games for the Braves and went 6-for-13 (.462) with two doubles and a homer. The 28-year-old was a former first-rounder of the Rockies and toiled 9 1/2 years in the minors with four organizations before getting his first big-league call last summer. Wall showed modest production with his bat in the minors, but the Braves think he can improve. He's gone 3-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and a steal in four spring games so far and could carve out a bench role in Atlanta to begin the season.
