Boston Red Sox outfielder Gorkys Hernandez will get the start in the outfield for Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Jackie Bradley Jr. (rest) will get the night off against the left-handed starter. Hernandez hit 15 home runs with the Giants last season. He hasn't played in the majors this season, but could see some action when left-handed pitchers are on the mound. He'll bat eighth and cover center field versus lefty Martin Perez. Hernandez won't have much DFS value for this one.
Hunter Strickland, Gorkys Hernandez Not Offered Contracts
The San Francisco Giants non-tendered relief pitcher Hunter Strickland and outfielder Gorkys Hernandez on Friday, making them free agents. Strickland served as the closer for a bit in 2018 and also broke his hand punching a door in June after a blown save. Overall, he went 3-5 with a 3.97 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 14 saves and 37 strikeouts in 45 1/3 innings. The hard-throwing right-hander can be an effective late-inning weapon, but he doesn't have much fantasy value unless he's closing out games. Hernandez had career highs with 15 home runs and 40 RBI in 142 games in 2018. His mix of speed and power will help him get a job somewhere.
Gorkys Hernandez Hits 15th Home Run Of Season Tuesday
San Francisco Giants outfielder Gorkys Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Rockies. Hernandez crushed a hanging German Marquez offering into the center-field seats to break a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning. He now has a .246/.296/.417 slash line to go with 39 RBI and five stolen bases in 390 plate appearances. Hernandez is not a fantasy-relevant player this season given his mediocre performance and lack of consistent playing time.
After missing Monday's game with a calf injury, San Francisco Giants outfielder Gorkys Hernandez is back in the lineup and batting leadoff against the Chicago Cubs. It appears the injury is fully behind him and he is ready to go. Hernandez is hitting .279 with 11 home runs, 27 RBI and four stolen bases. He's safe to use in deeper season-long fantasy leagues.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Gorkys Hernandez (calf) is out of Mondays lineup versus the Cubs. Hernandez left Sundays game early with tightness in his left calf and will be replaced by Steven Duggar. Duggar will bat first and has a favorable matchup versus Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks, who has been hit hard in his last three starts.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Gorkys Hernandez is likely to sit on Monday with a calf injury. It appears to be a minor injury and it's likely he returns on Tuesday. WIth Austin Jackson traded, there's a good chance Steven Duggar gets the start in center on Monday. He's hitting .333 with no other counting stats at the major league level in 2018 and is not a recommended streamer.
San Francisco outfielder Gorkys Hernandez continued his recent hot streak Sunday night with another two hits against the Cubs raising his average to .315 on the year. Hernandez has been on fire as of late batting .359 with four homers and an OPS of 1.161 over the last two weeks. His playing time might diminish some with Mac Williamson finally coming back, but the Giants aren't going to be able to keep Hernandez out of the lineup if he continues to hit like this. With all of the recent injuries around the league to outfielders over the past few days, Hernandez might be worth a hot hand play and is almost certainly available in your league as he is 4% owned. The Giants also play three games at Coors Field this coming week so it might be the best possible time to grab him.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Gorkys Hernandez hit his fifth home run of the season Friday versus the Cubs. Hernandez didnt hit a home run at all in 2017, but has heated up lately with three in his last six games. He has been at the top of the order for the Giants and is worth a look while he continues to hit.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Gorkys Hernandez (hand) will undergo hamate surgery this offseason. Hernandez dealt with the injury towards the end of season which cost him some time. Hernandez will fight for a starting outfield spot heading into next year.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Gorkys Hernandez (wrist) has a left wrist sprain and will miss awhile. There is a chance he will the rest of the season at this point. Hernandez had been playing everyday in left field. This will open up time for Austin Slater who is auditioning for a starting role next season. Slater can be avoided for now in the majority of leagues.
