Austin Jackson Out Thursday, Gregor Blanco To Start
San Francisco Giants outfielder Austin Jackson(groin) will sit out Thursday evening. Jackson left late in Wednesdays game with groin tightness. Manager Bruce Bochy said that Jackson was removed as a precaution and it makes sense for him to sit out Thursday. Gregor Blanco will replace Jackson and bat eighth. Jackson will look to get back on the field Friday.
Free-agent outfielder Gregor Blanco has agreed to a contract to return to the San Francisco Giants. The 34-year-old spent 2017 with the Arizona Diamondbacks after winning two World Series with the Giants from 2012-2016. Blanco announced the news on his Instagram account and it is likely a minor league deal. The career .257 hitter will likely compete for the fourth outfield spot and will have a tough competition with Mac Williamson and Jarrett Parker. Aside from daily leagues, Blanco holds no value in fantasy leagues.
David Peralta Placed On Paternity Leave, Gregor Blanco Starting Monday
The Arizona Diamondbacks will be without outfielder David Peralta for the next couple of games. Peralta remains an underrated fantasy outfielder in a potent lineup. In his place tonight and leading off will be outfielder Gregor Blanco. Blanco is in the midst of a cold streak and can remain on the waiver wire. Peralta shouldn't miss more than three games.
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Gregor Blanco is back in the Arizona lineup Sunday and will be hitting at the top of the order. The veteran outfielder could be a sneaky start, considering he'll be facing a right-hander in Brewers starter Chase Anderson. Blanco is hitting .319 with a home run against right-handers this season.
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Gregor Blanco left Thursday's game with a jammed left thumb, with outfielder Rey Fuentes taking his place in the outfield. This is a blow for Arizona, as they are already without their starter in center field (A.J. Pollock) and now will need to start Fuentes if Blanco misses any time. Blanco had a .917 OPS last week and has three stolen bases over the last month, frequently batting at the top of the Diamondbacks lineup. Fuentes only has a .357 OPS in 37 plate appearances, so he is only a good option in the deepest of fantasy leagues.
With Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock (groin) on the shelf, outfielder Gregor Blanco will get his turn at the top of the order for the Diamondbacks this evening. For the season, Blanco is 4-for-14 with one stolen base. While Blanco had a nice line of .391/.462/.435 in Triple-A, he is set to split time with outfielder Reymond Fuentes. The outfielder does not hold any fantasy value except in NL-only leagues, as he is splitting time and will likely be sent down once Pollock returns from the disabled list.
