Harold Castro Retreats To The Bench Against Royals
Detroit Tigers second baseman Harold Castro is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals. The left-handed hitter will take a seat against Royals left-hander Daniel Lynch. The 28-year-old utility infielder has been solid for the Tigers in 400 at-bats in 2022, slashing .275/.303/.388 with seven home runs, 47 RBI and 36 runs scored. Castro should be back in the starting lineup when Detroit faces another right-handed pitcher. Rookie Ryan Kreidler is starting at the keystone on Wednesday and is batting seventh against Lynch. In his first 61 plate appearances in his first 18 major-league games, Kreidler has gone 11-for-52 (.212) with only a homer, five RBI and 17 strikeouts, so he'll be one to avoid in DFS.
Detroit Tigers first baseman Harold Castro (thumb) is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Los Angeles Angels. Castro was forced to leave Wednesday's game early with left thumb soreness, and he should be considered day-to-day for now. He's been solid for Detroit in 2022, slashing .280/.311/.402 with five home runs, 29 RBI and 31 runs scored in 296 at-bats. Jonathan Schoop is playing first base and will hit seventh on Friday against Angels left-hander Patrick Sandoval. Schoop will be a deep DFS sleeper on Friday with his .202/.235/.316 slash line and nine home runs, 33 RBI, 40 runs scored and five stolen bases in 421 at-bats.
Detroit Tigers infielder Harold Castro (calf) was removed in the sixth inning of Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers. He was hit in his calf by a pitch in the first inning of the contest and his calf began to feel stiff later in the game, leading to his removal. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch labeled him day-to-day. Castro was 0-for-2 with a pair of runs scored in Sunday's game. The 28-year-old is slashing .281/.298/.432 with four home runs, 16 RBI and 17 runs over 45 games on the year.
Detroit Tigers utility man Harold Castro got the start at shortstop Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins, and he made the most of it, homering twice in a 3-for-4 effort to lead the team to a 4-2 victory. Castro has played all over the diamond this season, garnering 75 plate appearances as a part-time contributor, but he may be earning additional opportunities by virtue of his .301/.316/.493 slash line.
Detroit Tigers second baseman Harold Castro had one of his best games of the year in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Oakland Athletics. He went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored. The home run was his second of the year and his first since June 12. Castro has now recorded multi-hit efforts in two straight games as he went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored on Monday. He's seeing semi-regular playing time right now, but he's hitting near the bottom of the Tigers' lineup. Over 83 games on the season, he's slashing .281/.313/.337 with two home runs, 28 RBI and 28 runs.
Detroit Tigers shortstop Harold Castro will start on Saturday evening against the Angels, batting last. With Niko Goodrum (finger) recently landing on the injured list because of a sprained left index digit, Isaac Paredes was called up from Triple-A Toledo. However, Paredes' flight was delayed, making him unavailable to take on southpaw Patrick Sandoval. Instead, Castro will now handle duties at short, but with a miserable .143 average against left-handed tossers this season, fantasy managers in all formats should stay right away from him.
Detroit Tigers infielder Harold Castro provided the only offense for the team in their 15-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday. Castro hit a two-run home run in the first inning that narrowed the score to 3-2, in favor of the White Sox, before the White Sox went on to score 12 unanswered runs. The home run was Castro's first of the year and it was his only hit of the game as he went 1-for-4. Castro has been routinely getting on base this year. Through 35 games, he's batting .290 and has only 22 strikeouts. However, he has just two extra-base hits, including Saturday's home run, to go along with 13 RBI and seven runs.
Detroit Tigers infielder Harold Castro hit a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning of Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs, giving the Tigers a 9-8 victory. It was his only hit of the game as he went 1-for-6 with two RBI and three strikeouts. Castro has seen a decent amount of playing time lately. His versatility has helped get him into the lineup as he's played all four infield positions as well as the outfield this year. Through 22 games on the year, he is slashing .281/.328/.281 with seven RBI. He's yet to record his first extra-base hit.
Harold Castro Departs Early Saturday With Apparent Injury
Detroit Tigers utilityman Harold Castro (back/hamstring) exited Saturdays contest versus the Royals after appearing to injure his back/hamstrings on a swing. Castro missed time earlier this year due to a strained left hamstring, which may have been the cause, but he cedes way to Eric Haase, with Austin Romine shifting over to first base and Brandon Dixon to second. With the amount of discomfort that Castro appeared to be in, its difficult to see Detroit sending him out for Sundays season finale, likely ending his year as a .347 batter across 22 contests. Depending on his role come 2021, Castro could see some season-long fantasy intrigue as the spring unfolds.
Detroit Tigers utilityman Harold Castro (hamstring) was activated off of the 10-day injured list on Friday. He is starting in right field and batting fifth against Zach Plesac and the Cleveland Indians. Castro's posted a .276 average across 29 at-bats in 2020, but he has non-existent fantasy appeal for the final weeks of the season. He is a definite fade in DFS formats against Plesac, as are most of the Tigers' batters.
