The Milwaukee Brewers recalled right-hander J.C. Mejia from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday and optioned right-hander Jandel Gustave to Nashville in a corresponding move. Mejia was acquired from the Cleveland Guardians in the offseason, but he has yet to pitch in a big-league game for the Brewers this year. Prior to his call-up, he had allowed just one earned run while walking six and striking out 15 in 10 2/3 relief innings at Nashville, and he could have an important relief role in Milwaukee. In his only major league action for the Guardians last year, Mejia had an 8.25 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP while walking 24 and striking out 47 in 52 1/3 innings over 17 appearances (11 starts).
The Cleveland Indians optioned right-hander J.C. Mejia to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday to make room on the roster for starting pitcher Zach Plesac, who was activated from the injured list to start on Thursday night. Mejia could rejoin the big league roster for their road trip coming out of the All-Star break, but he should be off the fantasy radar for now after struggling mightily in his first 10 major league appearances (seven starts). In his two starts this month against the Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays, Mejia allowed 12 earned runs on nine hits (three home runs) while striking out five and walking four in 6 2/3 innings. The 24-year-old just hasn't been trustworthy with his 7.42 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 30 1/3 innings.

This was a decent outing for Mejia who is still learning to be a starter in his young career. This marks the deepest he has pitched in any game this season and the Indians will almost certainly rely on him to continue to make starts, especially with the loss of Shane Bieber to the IL. That being said, Mejia does not pose any true fantasy value at this current juncture.

Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Jean Carlos Mejia was named the starter for Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox. However, following the postponement of Wednesday's game, it has been announced that he will now start on Friday against the Baltimore Orioles. Aaron Civale will have his start pushed back from Friday to Saturday. Mejia has made three relief appearances this year. He's pitched five scoreless innings and has allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out seven.

The Indians were scheduled to start Eli Morgan in this one, but perhaps they decided otherwise after he allowed six earned runs across just 2 2/3 innings pitched in his debut against the Toronto Blue Jays Friday night. Mejia has been a solid reliever in 2021 as he has posted a 0.00 ERA and seven strikeouts across his first five innings pitched. He is someone worth keeping an eye on in this start as the Indians could desperately use rotation help right now, but is not a recommended streaming option vs. the White Sox.
