White Sox
The Chicago White Sox announced on Monday that they claimed infielder Jacob Amaya off waivers from the Houston Astros and designated infielder Nick Senzel for assignment in a corresponding move. The club also recalled left-hander Sammy Peralta and infielder Bryan Ramos from Triple-A Charlotte and optioned left-hander Ky Bush to Charlotte. Amaya will report to Charlotte after hitting just .223/.313/.336 with five home runs, 32 RBI and six stolen bases in 73 games for Triple-A Sugar Land. The 25-year-old will serve as middle-infield depth for the White Sox down on the farm to close out 2024. Senzel has now been cut from both the White Sox and Washington Nationals this year. The 29-year-old former first-rounder by the Cincinnati Reds in 2016 out of Tennessee hit a combined .195/.283/.331 with a .614 OPS, seven homers and 18 RBI in 74 total games this year.

Jacob Amaya Making MLB Debut Sunday
Miami Marlins rookie shortstop Jacob Amaya, who was called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, is making his major-league debut on Sunday against the Washington Nationals and left-hander Patrick Corbin. Amaya is starting at shortstop and is hitting ninth in the batting order. The team's No. 9 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, earned the call-up to the Show by hitting .277/.344/.469 with nine home runs and 35 RBI in 241 plate appearances at Jacksonville. With Jean Segura (hamstring) going on the injured list, the 24-year-old could see regular playing time at the 6 in the short term. In the long term, Amaya projects for an average hit tool with 12-15 home runs per year, so fantasy managers shouldn't invest heavily just yet.

Jacob Amaya Tearing It Up At Triple-A
Miami Marlins shortstop prospect Jacob Amaya, who was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the trade that sent Miguel Rojas to LA, has been making a case for his first big-league call-up. In 36 games so far for Triple-A Jacksonville, Amaya is slashing .265/.333/.397 with seven doubles, a triple, three home runs, 14 RBI and 20 runs scored in 153 plate appearances. But he's really picked things up in May, hitting .362 with four doubles, a triple and a home run in his 52 plate appearances. The 24-year-old's glove is certainly ahead of his bat, but he could become the Marlins' starting shortstop before the year is up, especially if the oft-injured Joey Wendle continues to struggle at the plate.

Marlins Land Shortstop Prospect Jacob Amaya
The Miami Marlins acquired shortstop prospect Jacob Amaya from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday in exchange for shortstop Miguel Rojas. The glove-first Rojas became expendable when the Fish signed veteran infielder Jean Segura in free agency this offseason. With Rojas now in LA, Segura is likely to begin the 2023 campaign as Miami's everyday shortstop. Amaya, who was ranked as the Dodgers' No. 15 prospect by MLB Pipeline, hit a combined .261/.369/.427 with a career-high 17 home runs, 71 RBI, 85 runs scored and six stolen bases in 133 games for Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2022. Like Rojas, Amaya is excellent defensively and has a strong approach at the plate, albeit without a ton of pop.
