Jake Faria Recalled From Triple-A

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Jake Faria had his contract selected from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday. He is taking the roster spot of Chris Martin (shoulder), who was just placed on the 15-day injured list. Faria hasn't looked good in the minors this season, posting a 10.80 ERA and 2:00 WHIP over five innings so it's unclear how long his stay with the big league club will last. There is zero fantasy value here.

Red Sox Sign Jake Faria To Minor-League Deal

The Boston Red Sox signed former Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Jake Faria to a minor-league deal on Saturday, according to a source. Faria began his MLB career mostly as a starter for the Rays in 2017 and 2018, but he's mostly served as a reliever in two seasons since then. The 29-year-old didn't pitch in the majors at all in 2022 and had a 5.51 ERA (4.58 FIP), 1.59 WHIP, 13 walks and 32 strikeouts in 23 appearances (three starts) over 32 2/3 innings pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Faria had a rough 7.48 ERA in 12 outings (nine starts) at Triple-A St. Paul with the Minnesota Twins in 2022. He'll give the Red Sox some starting and relieving pitching depth in 2023 but won't be on the fantasy radar at all if he's in the big leagues.

Jake Faria Will Start On Saturday

The Arizona Diamondbacks have announced that right-hander Jake Faria will make the start on Saturday against the San Francisco Giants. Faria made his first start of the year for the D-backs on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals and impressed, giving up just an earned run on three hits while striking out three and walking none in four innings. The 27-year-old has a nice 3.38 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 23.5 percent strikeout rate for the Snakes, but it has come with the extremely small sample size of just eight innings. Faria has an opportunity to impress again, but he'll be facing the first-place Giants and isn't a good candidate to go deep into this game, for obvious reasons. Consider Faria a poor streaming choice in fantasy on Saturday in his second start of the year.

Brewers Send Jesus Aguilar To Rays For Jacob Faria

Former Tampa Bay Rays starter/reliever Jacob Faria is heading to the Milwaukee Brewers in a trade for first basemanJesus Aguilar. Faria had a strong rookie year as a starter, but then regressed and was eventually moved to the bullpen where his stuff started to shine. For now, it's unlikely that Faria will join the rotation or get any save chances, but Faria is still young and could be a starter for the Brewers in the future. As for Aguilar, the Rays have been looking for a right-handed bat and he fills their need. It's still unlikely that Aguilar gets everyday playing time, but it's worth noting that he slashed .298/.346/.574 in July and could play his way into more at-bats.

Rays Call Up Jake Faria And Nate Lowe

On Thursday, the Tampa Bay Rays called up both pitcher Jake Faria and first baseman Nate Lowe from Triple-A. Both players have already been up this season and there's certainly no guarantee they will remain with the big league squad long. Lowe is the more intriguing of the two from a fantasy perspective for now. He struggled during his 10 games in the majors this year, but at Triple-A, he's had an OPS of .938 with 12 home runs and 46 RBI in 68 games. He likely won't find regular playing time with the Rays unless he really forces their hand, so for now, only put him on your radar in deep, deep leagues. Faria, meanwhile, has shown promising strikeout potential, but will likely stick in the bullpen for the near future.

Jake Faria Recalled on Saturday

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jake Faria has been recalled from Triple-A on Saturday. Faria has pitched most of the season in Triple-A despite starting the season with Tampa Bay. Faria has a 5.14 ERA in six starts and nine relief appearances. He's someone that could pitch multiple innings out of the bullpen or make a few spot starts. Faria could be useful for the Rays, but doesn't offer much to fantasy owners. Infielder Daniel Robertson has been optioned to the minors in a corresponding move.

Jacob Faria Recalled By Rays

Tampa Bay Rays reliever Jacob Faria was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Saturday afternoon. Faria sported an unsightly 5.40 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 65 innings with the Rays in 2018. The former top prospect will likely pitch out of the bullpen, although, it is possible that he gets some looks as an opener. At best, Faria could develop into a streaming option if he manages to earn some starts this year.

Jake Faria Starting Tuesday

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jake Faria will make the start against the Yankees on Tuesday. He will only likely go a few innings, with Jalen Beeks likely to pitch as well. Faria hasn't started a game since Aug. 15, so it would make sense that he won't last long in this game. The right-hander has plenty of starting experience but has been set back by injuries this year and hasn't been very effective in his 16 outings (11 starts), with a 5.17 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 6.9 K/9. Against a Yankees team trying to keep home-field advantage for the wild-card game, Faria should be avoided.

Jake Faria Activated Tuesday

The Tampa Bay Rays activated starting pitcher Jake Faria (oblique) from the taxi squad Tuesday during a series of moves that included moving infielderDaniel Robertson (thumb) to the 60-day disabled list. Faria has a 4.84 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 46 K's in 57 2/3 innings over 13 outings (11 starts), but he was set back by an oblique injury midseason. Faria could see some starts down the stretch but would mainly be an AL-only option as a streamer. There remains some potential for upside if he can regain the form he had shown in the past but it does not seem like a smart bet. Robertson's regular season is over.

Jake Faria Likely To Return Tuesday

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jake Faria has been added to the taxi squad and is likely to be added to the active roster on Tuesday. Faria has a 4.84 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 46 K's in 57 2/3 innings over 13 outings (11 starts), but he was set back by an oblique injury midseason. Faria could see some starts down the stretch but would mainly be an AL-only option as a streamer.
