The New York Mets have signed outfielder Jaylin Davis to a minor-league deal on Friday. The right-handed slugger will receive an invitation to Spring Training, but isn't expected to make the big league roster. Last season, Davis hit .203/.312/.334 with seven homers at Triple-A in the Red Sox organization. The power potential is certainly there as Davis hit 35 home runs in the minors during the 2019 season. That being said, the Mets believe that the 28-year-old is worth taking a gamble on. He'll be nice insurance to have in the minors in case of injuries down the road.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Jaylin Davis (hamstring) will report to Triple-A over the weekend to begin his rehab assignment. Davis has been out for a few weeks because of a Grade 1 hamstring strain, so it appears as if he is very close to possibly making it back to the big club. Davis also battled a knee injury this season and is currently batting .111 throughout only nine plate appearances. He isn't worth much from a fantasy perspective, but that could change if he snags a more prominent role moving forward.
Tyler Beede Called Up, Jaylin Davis To The Injured List
The San Francisco Giants called up right-hander Tyler Beede from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday and placed outfielder Jaylin Davis (hamstring) on the injured list with a Grade 1 hamstring strain in a corresponding move. Outfielder Jason Vosler was also called up from Sacramento, while right-hander Jimmie Sherfy was designated for assignment. Beede will be making his first appearance since 2019 after having Tommy John surgery last spring, and he could be an option to start against the Washington Nationals on Friday. He's had trouble with his command in the minors this year and had a 6.56 ERA and 32 walks in 35 2/3 innings over 12 starts on the farm, so he'll be an extremely risky fantasy streamer if he enters the Giants rotation to close out the first half of the season.
Jaylin Davis Diagnosed With Grade 1 Hamstring Strain
San Francisco Giants outfielder Jaylin Davis (hamstring) was diagnosed with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain after undergoing an MRI exam on Tuesday. Davis suffered the injury on Monday night and was forced to leave the game, and he could be headed for a stint on the injured list. It's a tough blow after he just came off the 60-day injured list recently due to a knee injury. Davis has one hit in nine at-bats at the major league level this season and has been functioning as outfield depth for the Gigantes. However, he was hitting .316/.418/.754 with seven home runs and 22 RBI in 14 games for Triple-A Sacramento before getting the call to the big leagues. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Jaylin Davis (hamstring) exited Monday's loss to the Cardinals with a strained left hamstring. He will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury. The 27-year-old went 0-for-3 before exiting. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation as an update will be provided once the MRI is completed. Davis was reinstated from the 60-day injured list on July 1. He has been sidelined most of the season due to knee tendinitis. Davis has elite power and homered 35 times over 126 games between Double-A and Triple-A. In a crowded Giants outfield, Davis isn't on the fantasy radar in standard leagues.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Jaylin Davis (knee) is currently dealing with knee soreness. However, he ran the bases on Thursday and has a good chance to return to the lineup in the next couple days. The 26-year-old Davis has played just 21 games in the majors since making his debut in 2019. Over that stretch, he's slashing .167/.237/.278 with two home runs and 17 strikeouts. He has some significant power upside. In 2019, he hit 35 home runs over 126 games split between Double-A and Triple-A. He also struck out 138 times during that stretch. He projects to be a reserve outfielder for the Giants to open the year. He isn't worth targeting in standard fantasy leagues at this point.
