The Chicago Cubs have optioned starting pitcher Jen-Ho Tseng. Tseng allowed three runs over two innings Tuesday in a spot start against the Marlins. The Cubs also needed more bullpen arms and promoted pitcher Justin Hancock to replace Tseng.
The Chicago Cubs have announced that pitcher Jen-Ho Tseng will start Tuesday evening versus the Miami Marlins. Tseng will replace Yu Darvish (flu), who was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Monday. Tseng made his major league debut in 2017 and allowed five runs in six innings. Tseng has been one of the Cubs top pitching prospects over the past few seasons but has struggled for Triple-A Iowa this year with an 8.04 ERA in six starts. He can be left on the waiver wire for now.
