Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies signed free-agent right-hander Jon Duplantier to a minor-league deal on Friday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Although seven of Duplantier's 19 major-league outings in two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks came as starts, he'll likely be competing for a spot in Philadelphia's Opening Day bullpen this spring. He did not make it to the big leagues in 2022 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he had a 4.80 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, 109 strikeouts and 57 walks in 93 2/3 innings over 34 outings (14 starts) for Triple-A Oklahoma City. If he makes the Opening Day roster, he can be ignored in all fantasy leagues. The 28-year-old has given up 37 earned runs on 58 hits while walking 26 and striking out 46 in 49 2/3 big-league innings.

Jon Duplantier Signs Minor-League Deal With D'Backs
Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Jon Duplantier (lat) has resigned with the club on Friday after being released by the Diamondbacks earlier in the week. Duplantier is out for the year with a lat tear but threw 13 innings with a 13.15 ERA and 8.62 FIP before the injury. For his career, he's pitched to a 6.70 ERA with 46 K and 26 BB across 49.2 IP. Duplantier has no fantasy significance and even if he can make it back to the big leagues next season, he should be avoided in all formats.

Jon Duplantier Released By Arizona
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Jon Duplantier was released by the team on Tuesday, according to Zach Buchanan of The Athletic. At one point the top pitching prospect in Arizona's system, Duplantier has been plagued by injuries over the past few years, and over 21 combined innings this season between the majors and minors, he has allowed 26 earned runs on 30 hits and 13 walks with 17 strikeouts. One can hope that if he latches on with another organization that he can find success and show the promise he once had, but at this point if he was still being rostered in dynasty formats he can be dropped to the waiver wire.

Jon Duplantier Optioned To Triple-A
Arizona Diamondbacks' right-hander Jon Duplantier has been optioned to Triple-A Reno. The 26-year-old hurler struggled mightily in his four starts with the D-Backs this season. He allowed 19 runs over 13 innings pitched, which worked out to a 13.15 ERA and 2.08 WHIP to go along with a 12:8 K/BB ratio. Most recently, he coughed up six earned runs over 1 1/3 innings in a loss to the Angels on Sunday. He'll head back down to Triple-A to work some things out and could be back up with the big league club at some point later this season.

Diamondbacks Recall Jon Duplantier
The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled right-handed pitcher Jon Duplantier from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday after they placed starting pitcher Taylor Widener (groin) back on the injured list with a groin strain. Duplantier didn't come out of the bullpen in relief on Tuesday night, but he was available. He's returning to the big leagues after a two-year absence. In his 15 career games at the MLB level (three starts), which all came back in 2019, Duplantier has a 4.42 ERA while striking out 34 hitters and walking 18. The 26-year-old had made two starts with Reno this year, allowing six earned runs on eight hits while striking out four and walking five in seven innings pitched. Despite Arizona's injuries to their pitching staff right now, Duplantier is expected to mainly pitch in relief, leaving him little to no fantasy appeal.

Jon Duplantier Likely To Miss Start Of Season
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Jon Duplantier (elbow) "slowly initiated a throwing program" as he works his way back from elbow issues that popped up in April, according to manager Torey Lovullo. The skipper said it's safe to assume that Duplantier will not be ready in time for Opening Day on July 24. The right-hander had a 4.42 ERA in 36 2/3 innings as a rookie in 2019 and has a history of arm issues dating back to his college days at Rice. The 26-year-old likely would've started the year in the minor leagues if COVID-19 hadn't happened, but now he's likely to start on the injured list and might not see much major league action in the 60-game season. Duplantier is a dynasty league stash and not a redraft option.

Jon Duplantier Behind In Camp
Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen said that starting pitcher Jon Duplantier (elbow), who was shut down in April with right-elbow soreness, is a bit behind the other pitchers at the start of summer camp this weekend. Duplantier was working as a starter when things were shut down this spring and was ticketed to start the 2020 season in the minors. The fact that his elbow still isn't quite ready months later is a bit of a concern and means that there's a chance he won't be ready for the start of the season. The 25-year-old will be a depth option for the rotation this year, making him one to leave to the waiver wire in most leagues. He had a 4.42 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings in 15 outings (three starts) in his first big league action in 2019.

Jon Duplantier Activated, Optioned to Minors
Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Jon Duplantier (shoulder) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Friday. Duplantier was activated, but optioned to Triple-A Reno following his activation from the injured list. He's pitched decent in both the starting rotation and bullpen for the D-Backs this season. He shouldn't be in the minors for too long, so fantasy owners should watch Duplantier the rest of the season. He should be a big piece to the D-Backs staff in the near future.

Jon Duplantier Shut Down 6-7 Days
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Jon Duplantier (shoulder) will be shut down for six to seven days, but manager Torey Lovullo said his MRI exam came back positive. The club's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, will miss several turns through the rotation and it's unclear if he'll return to Arizona's rotation or be sent down to the minors once he comes off the injured list. He's been decent with a 4.32 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 24 strikeouts and nine walks in 25 innings over three starts and five relief appearances in the desert. Duplantier has long-term upside as a starter but probably won't be all that consistent for those in deep mixed leagues in his rookie season.

Jon Duplantier Placed on Injured List
Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Jon Duplantier (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. Duplantier is dealing with right shoulder inflammation that has led to his velocity dropping. The D-Backs are taking the safe route here and giving Duplantier some time off to rest. It's unclear how long he's going to be sidelined at the moment.
