Jose Briceno Recalled From Triple-A

The Los Angeles Angels have recalled catcher Jose Briceno from Triple-A Salt Lake. Briceno was recalled to fill the roster spot of Rene Rivera, who was claimed by the Atlanta Braves. Briceno will likely serve as the backup to rookie catcher Francisco Arcia, and is not fantasy relevant.

Jose Briceno Sitting Out on Wednesday

Los Angeles Angels catcher Jose Briceno (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Francisco Arcia will bat ninth and draw the start behind the plate against righty Tyler Glasnow. Arcia and Briceno are splitting time behind the plate, which hurts their fantasy value. However, Arcia is still worth a look in AL-only leagues despite limited playing time. Briceno has been hitting fairly decent, but probably won't benefit many fantasy owners. Arcia could be a cheap sleeper option for DFS on Wednesday.

Jose Briceno Has Two Home Runs in Three Big League Games

Los Angeles Angels backup catcher Jose Briceno homered again on Wednesday, giving him two home runs through his first three big league games. He is 4-for-9 with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored in his brief big league career. Serving as a backup to workhorse Martin Maldonado, Briceno is not expected to have much, if any, fantasy value this season.
