Josh Osich Picks Up First Career Save

Cincinnati Reds left-hander Josh Osich threw a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 3-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. Osich picked up one strikeout while not allowing a baserunner in the outing. The left-hander was credited with a save in the game, the first of his career. Overall, Osich has a 2-0 record, 0.87 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings of work for the Reds this season. Don't read too much into Osich getting the save chance on Sunday as Heath Hembree had pitched in four of the past five days and was due for a break. Osich could work his way into a more high-leverage role in the second half if he can continue to limit opposing hitters.

Cubs Acquire Josh Osich From Red Sox

The Chicago Cubs didnt add just one left-handed reliever at the Trade Deadline, they got two. With left-hander Josh Osich joining the mix in a deal with the Boston Red Sox, the Cubs will now be able to put Osich and Andrew Chafin alongside Kyle Ryan for a triumvirate of southpaws that the team hopes to utilize into October. Osich has amassed 20 strikeouts in 15 frames this season, but has allowed six home runs in that span, in addition to owning a career 4.95 ERA. He is a non-entity in fantasy at this stage, although his presence should further bolster the Cubs bullpen which enters play Monday with a 5.42 ERA, the fifth-lowest mark in the Majors.
