Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Smith has been called up from the minors to start the first game of a doubleheader against the Rays on Saturday. Smith, 31, has a 4.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and six strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings over one start and three relief appearances for the BoSox in 2019. He went just 3 1/3 innings and allowed five hits and four earned runs while walking two and striking out three in his lone start on May 6 against the Orioles. Smith is unlikely to last long in this game and the matchup isn't a very good one either, so we would advise avoiding him as a streamer in deeper leagues.

The 31-year-old right-hander has a career 5.30 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and weak 7.3 K/9 in 67 outings at the big league level. He hasn't pitched in the majors since 2017 with the A's and will be one to avoid entirely for streaming purposes against a strong Tampa lineup. He's likely to be sent back to Triple-A Pawtucket after his start on Friday.
