Junior Guerra Arrives At Summer Camp

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that relief pitcher Junior Guerra has arrived to work out with the team at Chase Field on Wednesday. Guerra tested positive for COVID-19 but has already returned two negatives within 24 hours and is being allowed to return to action with his teammates. The 35-year-old veteran righty is expected to serve as one of the primary setup men, along with Andrew Chafin and Hector Rondon, ahead of closer Archie Bradley this year. Guerra has started 60 games in his five-year career, but he's expected to pitch out of the 'pen in Arizona. He had a 3.55 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 77 K's and 36 walks in 83 2/3 relief innings in 2019 with Milwaukee. Guerra might not even be the next man up for saves in Arizona if Bradley is injured or demoted from the closer's role. You can ignore him for now in most mixed leagues.

Junior Guerra Returns To Mound Against Nationals

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Junior Guerra has been activated from the disabled list and will start on Tuesday against the Nationals. He's been out since July 13 with a forearm injury. Guerra has pitched to a 6-6 record on the season with a 3.23 ERA and a 96/29 K/BB ratio. Guerra has looked sharp in 2018 and is worthy of streaming on Tuesday as well as a pickup in season-long leagues.

Brewers Put Eric Thames, Junior Guerra On DL

The Milwaukee Brewers placed first baseman/outfielder Eric Thames (hamstring) and starting pitcher Junior Guerra (forearm) on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday ahead of their doubleheader. Infielder Nate Orf has been recalled from Triple-A and starting pitcher Brent Suter (forearm) has been activated from the DL in corresponding moves. Thames and Guerra were both injured Friday night. Thames' injury is believed to be minor, so they're giving him a little extra rest with the All-Star break next week. He remains useful in deep mixed and NL-only leagues for his power. Guerra has been good overall this year (3.23 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 8.8 K/9), but he allowed six earned runs in just four innings against Pittsburgh on Friday night. Perhaps it had to do with his injury. It's unclear how much time he'll need to miss or how severe his injury is. Suter will start the second game of the doubleheader against the Pirates on Saturday, but he's a risky fantasy streamer in his first start back off the DL.

Junior Guerra Picks Up Win in Shaky Start Thursday

Brewers starting pitcher Junior Guerra grabbed his fourth win of the season Thursday against Cincinnati. Guerra allowed nine baserunners and was credited with four earned runs, his most since May 9 against Cleveland. To be fair to Guerra, playing at Great American Ballpark against this Cincinnati team is a tall task and he came out better than most. Six strikeouts in six innings along with a win is more than fantasy owners can ask from Guerra who was on the waiver wire almost everywhere to start the year. He is still available in over 50 percent of ESPN leagues and is probably better than most teams' worst starter. Consider picking him up if he's around.

Junior Guerra Tosses Fourth Consecutive Quality Start

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Junior Guerra went six innings, giving up five hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out four in the 7-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs. This now marks Guerra's fourth consecutive quality start, and he has been a key piece in the rotation this season. On the year, he now holds a 3-4 record, 2.71 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 66 1/3 innings pitched. He should be owned in all deeper formats and should be streamed for every start in shallow formats right now.

Junior Guerra Hit With Loss In Pitching Duel

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Junior Guerra pitched six innings, giving up seven hits, three runs and one walk while striking out five in the 3-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Guerra has been a pleasant surprise this year after a disappointing 5.12 ERA in only 70 1/3 innings pitched last year. This year, Guerra now rocks a 3-4 record, 2.83 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings pitched. Guerra also earned a quality start, which gives him five on the year, one more than he had all of last year. Guerra should be owned in all deeper formats and makes for a top streaming candidate in shallower formats due to his high-strikeout upside.

Junior Guerra Dominant In No-Decision Against Cardinals

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Junior Guerra went six innings on Wednesday, giving up four hits, no runs and no walks while striking out seven in the 3-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Guerra has been quite the pleasant surprise this year after starting with Triple-A Colorado Springs in April, pitching to a 2.65 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings pitched on the season. This was Guerra's second consecutive quality start, and in those two quality starts he has not allowed a walk. He's definitely one of baseball's hotter pitchers right now and will make for a top streaming candidate on June 5 against the Cleveland Indians.

Junior Guerra Logs Quality Start In No-Decision Over Mets

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Junior Guerra went six innings, giving up five hits, two earned runs, and no walks while striking out three in the 4-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Despite two home runs Guerra gave up, his control was on point and was attacking the strike zone with 52 strikes pitched to only 20 balls. Guerra surprisingly only went six innings with 72 pitches before the ball was handed to Josh Hader and this is something Brewers starting pitcher owners should come to expect with the MLB's top bullpen. Guerra should be owned in deep formats and makes for a top streaming candidate in shallower formats with his next projected start coming on May 30 against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Junior Guerra Bounces Back After Two Bad Starts

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Junior Guerra went six innings, giving up three hits, two runs and four walks while striking out three in the 7-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. While Guerra did allow four walks, he kept the hits low and the runs lower and ultimately ended up earning the win and a quality start. This now gives him his second quality start on the season, with his other one coming on April 28. Guerra will make his next start against the Minnesota Twins on May 20 provided no injuries happen, and he is a top streaming candidate. On the season, he now owns a 3.08 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 3-3 record with 37 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched.

Junior Guerra Gets Roughed Up In Second Consecutive Start

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Junior Guerra went five innings giving up six hits, four earned runs, and two walks while striking out nine in the 6-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians. After starting the year with a 0.82 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in his first four starts, he's now up to a 3.09 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP with his last two starts not going too well. The only thing salvageable about his start was that he struck out nine batters, which is a season-high for Guerra so far. With Wade Miley recently going down with an injury, Guerra holds no threat to losing his starting position at the current moment, however, should be dropped from shallower leagues he is owned in.
