Herrera should compete with Jace Fry, Alex Colome and Nate Jones for the ninth-inning job in Chicago, and Herrera will be a low-end fantasy closing target if he wins the job.

The right-hander wasn't as effective in his 21 games in the National League (4.34 ERA, 1.71 WHIP).

Herrera is going in for x-rays tonight to determine the severity of this injury and will likely be placed on the disabled list in the coming days. This will be Herrera's second DL stint in August as he just returned from a shoulder injury last week. The Nationals' bullpen takes another huge blow as they are still without Sean Doolittle or Ryan Madson. Koda Glover should be expected to take over as the interim closer until Doolittle returns.
