Kyle Cody Placed On 10-Day Injured List

Texas Rangers pitcher Kyle Cody (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Cody is dealing with right shoulder inflammation. Texas has recalled right-hander Josh Sborz, who had appeared in six games before being optioned, from the alternate site in a corresponding move. Cody struggled to a 7.94 ERA in 11 1/3 innings this season.

Kyle Cody Torched By Dodgers

Texas Rangers starter Kyle Cody allowed five runs against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday. The runs came after he allowed a walk and eight hits over just 2.1 innings. Six of the hits were doubles. Cody is attempting to win a spot in the Rangers' starting rotation to open the year but he now has a 9.72 ERA through four games stretched over 8.1 innings. He's given up a whopping 17 hits and two walks. Last season, Cody pitched 22.2 innings at the MLB level and posted a 1.59 ERA while allowing 15 hits and 13 free passes. Despite his struggles, the Rangers have a lot of question marks in the starting rotation so Cody has time to turn things around and re-discover his command.

Kyle Cody Makes First Start Friday, Faces Innings Cap

Texas Rangers right-handed pitcher Kyle Cody will enter the starting rotation for Fridays contest against the Mariners, which will mark the first start of his big league career. Cody has not allowed a run in 4 innings with six strikeouts across his first three appearances, but he has not thrown more than 39 pitches, which will cap his workload Friday. The expectation is that the 6-foot-7 righty will not go more than four innings, which limits his fantasy appeal due to his inability to procure a win. With an impressive performance, Cody could be a name to keep an eye on moving forward, but owners can likely look elsewhere Friday for low-end, high-upside options.
