Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick gave up 10 hits and walked one Wednesday, which translated to six earned runs on the night. Kendrick only managed to strike out two and was pulled after just 4 1/3 innings. It was the second poor outing for the starter, and he was optioned to Triple-A shortly after. Relief pitcher Robbie Ross was called up to take his spot. With an off day on Monday, the Red Sox are able to skip Kendrick's next start and use the extra roster spot to carry a reliever while they decide what to do for a fifth starter.
