Luis Matos Homers In Win Wednesday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos turned in a solid game in his team's 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. Matos went 2-for-3 with a solo homer to help propel his team to victory. The 22-year-old's homer in the fifth inning broke a 3-3 tie and wound up being the difference in the ballgame for the Giants. Matos is hitting .253 with three homers, 10 runs, and 21 RBI across 99 at-bats in 2024. He has been swinging a hot bat of late, hitting .381 over his past seven contests. Matos is worth a look in NL-only formats while he's hot at the plate.

Luis Matos Returns To The Major Leagues

San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos is being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move that put outfielder Mike Yastrzemski (oblique) on the injured list. Matos had a brief stint in the majors early this season and held a .224/.247/.329 slash line with two home runs, 20 RBI, and a 3:10 BB:K ratio in 21 games. In 44 games at Triple-A this season, Matos posted a solid .250/.324/.467 line with 15 doubles, eight long balls, 31 RBI, and five swiped bags. Since June 11, in the minors, Matos has been riding a stellar .375/.419/.925 line with five home runs, which resulted in his promotion. The 22-year-old outfielder is worth a look in deeper leagues as he should receive plenty of opportunities as Yastrzemski remains sidelined.

Luis Matos Hitting Third Against Pirates

San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos is starting in center field and batting third on Tuesday in Pittsburgh against the Pirates and veteran left-hander Martin Perez. It's the first time this year that Matos has hit up near the top of the batting order, but he's deserved the move. The 22-year-old Venezuelan outfielder has hit .333 (10-for-30) with two home runs and 17 RBI in just eight games in his second year in the big leagues. Matos is unlikely to keep that high of a batting average through the rest of the season, but he's worth a pickup in fantasy leagues for outfield depth now that rookie Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) is out for the rest of the year. Matos made his big-league debut in 2023 and hit .250/.319/.342 with two homers, 14 RBI, three steals and 24 runs scored in 76 games. It's a good matchup against the soft-tossing Perez on Tuesday for Matos.

Luis Matos Homers, Collects Six RBI On Saturday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos went 3-for-5 with a home run and six RBI in Saturday's 14-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies. After driving in a career-high five runs on Friday, Matos topped that on Saturday by collecting six RBI against the Rockies. The 22-year-old blasted a three-run shot off Ty Blach in the first inning to put the Giants on the scoreboard. He hit an RBI double in the third inning and capped off his six-RBI day with a two-run single in the eighth frame. Matos has been red hot and driven in 16 runs over his last five games. Fantasy managers should add Matos off the waiver wire and use him as a streamer while he continues to swing a hot bat. Matos will look to keep things rolling in the series finale on Sunday against the Rockies.

Luis Matos Officially Recalled From Triple-A

San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos has officially been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday. Michael Conforto (hamstring) has been placed on the 10-day injured list as a corresponding move. It is unclear whether Matos will receive everyday at-bats or not, but he will definitely be in the outfield mix for the Giants. The 22-year-old has scuffled at the plate to start his minor-league season as he is slashing .218/.308/.355 with three homers, 17 RBI and three stolen bases across 31 games. He is worth a speculative add in the deepest of leagues, but most managers should probably take a wait-and-see approach with Matos instead.

Luis Matos Likely Being Called Up

San Francisco Giants outfield prospect Luis Matos is likely being called up to the majors after he was pulled from his game at Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday night. Reports have also noted that Matos is in the Giants clubhouse on Sunday. Michael Conforto (hamstring) strained his right hamstring in Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds and may require an IL stint once the results of his MRI come back. Matos is the likely replacement on the roster if Conforto misses time. Matos had some fantasy hype coming into the season but has had an underwhelming start to the year. He is slashing .218/.308/.355 with three homers, 17 RBI and three steals through 31 games in the minors.

Luis Matos Eyes Return To San Francisco

Giants outfielder Luis Matos has opened the 2024 season in style at Triple-A. Matos, who struggled in his first taste of the big leagues last season, hit two home runs with five RBI and a stolen base in his first game of the year in Sacramento. The 22-year-old has already flashed elite contact skills and has shown an uptick in power over the spring and into the start of the season. The Venezuelan has a chance to be a multi-category contributor for fantasy managers in 2024, as he should get another shot with the Giants in the first half of the season.

Luis Matos Blasts Two Homers

San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos continued his red-hot stretch at the plate on Friday. The 22-year-old blasted two solo home runs during the 11-5 victory over the Texas Rangers. Now, Matos has three dingers over his last 11 at-bats. He is showing that he's ready for the big league level. Sadly, Matos doesn't have a good shot at earning a starting outfield spot to begin the season. The Giants are expected to start Jung Hoo Lee, Mike Yastrzemski, and Michael Conforto across their outfield to begin the 2024 season. Possibly, Matos grabs a bench spot, but a young player like Matos deserves everyday playing time. For now, the best move might be for him to stick in Triple-A until an everyday spot opens up in San Francisco.

Luis Matos Expected To Start In Left Field

The San Francisco Giants appear content to start the 2024 season with a semi-stable outfield of Luis Matos in left field, Jung-Hoo Lee in center field and a Mike Yastrzemski/Austin Slater combination in right field. If Blake Sabol makes the Opening Day roster, he could serve as a left-handed complement to Matos against certain right-handed starters. That alignment would leave Michael Conforto as the primary designated hitter against righties, with Wilmer Flores seeing most of his playing time against lefties. The 22-year-old Matos hit .250/.319/.342 with two homers and 14 RBI in his first 76 big-league games in 2023 after tearing up the upper level of the minors. The Giants will be hoping Matos can grow into some more power as he matures, but his elite contact rates in the minors carried over to his small sample size for San Fran last year, and it looks like he'll see plenty of playing time to start the 2024 campaign.

Luis Matos Continues To Struggle

San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos went 0-for-4 on Monday versus the Seattle Mariners and is now hitting a weak .226 with one homer, four RBI, two stolen bases and nine strikeouts over 18 games. The 21-year-old was on fire in Triple-A prior to his promotion and remains of the more exciting all-around prospects, but his struggles may lead to a demotion if he can't get it going shortly. Matos has been playing everyday and has plenty of opportunity with Mitch Haniger (forearm) set to be sidelined for most of the second half, but he will need to start picking it up if he plans to remain in the big leagues. He's a fine watch list candidate in redraft leagues for now and managers in dynasty leagues should remain patient.
