Mac Williamson News

Mac Williamson Clears Waivers, Outrighted To Triple-A

Seattle Mariners outfielder Mac Williamson, who was designated for assignment by the team on Monday, has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma. He will remain a member of the Mariners' organization for the time being. Williamson put up some gaudy power numbers with Triple-A Sacramento as a member of the Giants' organization the past two years, but he's still yet to find his power stroke at the big league level. Since joining the Mariners' organization in June, he's slashing just .182/.276/.299 with three home runs in 25 games.

Mac Williamson Designated For Assignment

The San Francisco Giants designated outfielder Mac Williamson for assignment on Saturday in order to make room for outfielder Mike Yastrzemski on the active roster. Williamson was destroying Triple-A pitching but hit just .118/.211/.196 with a homer, seven RBI, two steals and 18 strikeouts in his 51 at-bats in San Fran. Yastrzemski should get a good opportunity for regular playing time to see if he can help the team's anemic offense, so you might want to give him a look in NL-only affairs. He was hitting over .300 with 12 homers at Triple-A Sacramento.

Mac Williamson Starting Again Wednesday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mac Williamson will start in left field and bat sixth on Wednesday against righty Jon Gray. Williamson was just called up on Tuesday and went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, two runs scored and four total RBI. He smashed his way to a call-up, hitting nine homers and slashing .378/.459/.756 in 23 games in Triple-A. Its a little early to add him in most leagues, but fantasy managers in need of power in deeper leagues could justify adding him to their bench. His value will become clearer as we see how much playing time he will get. Keep tabs on him as he develops.

Giants Call Up Mac Williamson

The San Francisco Giants recalled outfielder Mac Williamson from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday after he hit .378 with a 1.215 OPS in the minors, including three home runs on Monday night. He had nine home runs on the season on the farm. He has showed more plate discipline this year with 11 walks in his last seven games to raise his on-base percentage to .459. Williamson's season ended early in 2018 due to concussion issues, but he might have a path to regular playing time this year if he produces for the Giants. He's worth considering in NL-only and deep mixed leagues if he plays consistently.

Mac Williamson Could Start On Injured List

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mac Williamson was hit on the wrist in his final spring at-bat, although X-rays came back negative. Williamson could start the year on the injured list and then be sent to Triple-A Sacramento to rehab while the team evaluates Rule 5 picks Connor Joe and Michael Reed in left field. One of Joe or Reed could start in left field on Opening Day on Thursday. Williamson has a slash line of just .222/.295/.386 with 13 home runs and 33 RBI in 120 games with the Giants over his four years in the majors. He can be ignored for now.

Steven Duggar, Mac Williamson In Good Shape Entering Spring

San Francisco Giants outfielders Steven Duggar (shoulder) and Mac Williamson (concussion) appear to be just fine heading into spring training after ending last season with injuries. Duggar had surgery in September to repair a dislocated left shoulder, and he said recently that he ramped up his hitting beyond 75 percent, and is also throwing without issues. Williamson said he remains symptom-free after a collision with the wall sacked a majority of his 2018 campaign. Both players are heading into the spring healthy, and they'll challenge for the two open outfield jobs or a bench position, but don't look for either to have much in the way of fantasy appeal outside of deeper NL-only leagues.

Giants Demote Mac Williamson

The San Francisco Giants have demoted outfielder Mac Williamson to Triple-A Sacramento. Williamson has hit just .187 over his last 75 at-bats. Williamson was given everyday at-bats once he returned from the disabled list, but he didnt make the most of his opportunity. Outfield prospect Austin Slater has been recalled to take the spot of Williamson on the active roster and is worth watching in all formats.

Mac Williamson On The Bench For Second Straight Game

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mac Williamson will sit for a second consecutive game Wednesday. Williamson has struggled since returning from the disabled list, but manager Bruce Bochy said that Williamson would be in the lineup every day when he was activated. Williamson is stuck in a 7-for-31 slump and the hope is that two days off will get him going. Austin Jackson will replace Williamson Wednesday and bat seventh. Jackson should be avoided in DFS on Wednesday.

Mac WIlliamson Sitting Tuesday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mac Williamson will sit Tuesday versus the Marlins. WIlliamson has really struggled since returning from a concussion and has four hits over his last 19 at-bats. Hunter Pence will replace WIlliamson and bat seventh. Pence is 4-for-13 since returning from a thumb injury. WIlliamson has enough upside to remain owned and hopefully the night off will get him going. Pence can be avoided in all formats.

Mac Williamson Sitting On Monday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mac Williamson will rest Monday evening versus the Diamondbacks. Williamson is hitting .226 with no home runs since his return from the disabled list. Hunter Pence will replace Williamson and bat seventh. Pence is worth a dart throw in DFS, as there are not many games Monday and opposing pitcher Zack Godley has allowed plenty of hits this season.
