Steven Duggar News
The San Francisco Giants have a deal in place to acquire outfielder Willie Calhoun from the Texas Rangers on Thursday in exchange for outfielder Steven Duggar (oblique). Injuries have held Calhoun back in his six seasons with the Rangers, but a change of scenery and more playing time could do him well. The 27-year-old was hitting just .136 (6-for-44) with a home run and two RBI in 18 games for Texas this year before they sent him to the minors. The Giants are in need of outfield help with Luis Gonzalez (back) going on the injured list, but Calhoun will have to earn an opportunity with his new club. Duggar hadn't played since April 21 due to a left oblique strain, but the Rangers have activated him after the trade went through. Duggar has gone just 7-for-36 in 12 games this year, but he could eventually become the Rangers starting center fielder.
The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Steven Duggar (oblique) on the 60-day injured list on Friday. Duggar suffered a left oblique injury during Thursday's game against the New York Mets. He will now be out for at least a few months. The team called up outfielder Luis Gonzalez to fill his roster spot. Duggar had been seeing a good amount of playing time through the early going this year. He appeared in 12 of the team's first 13 games and slashed .194/.231/.278 with four stolen bases, three doubles, four RBI and two runs scored.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Steven Duggar (oblique) exited the game early on Thursday against the New York Mets with a left oblique injury, according to the team. Duggar appeared to grab at his left side after taking a swing against right-hander Carlos Carrasco. Mauricio Dubon entered in place of Duggar and could see more playing time in center field for the Giants if Duggar's injury causes him to miss extended time. The 28-year-old has a league-high four stolen bases, but otherwise he's gotten off to a slow start in 2022, going 7-for-35 with no home runs, four RBI and two runs scored in his first 11 games entering play on Thursday. Oblique injuries are often tricky for hitters, so fantasy managers should expect Duggar to miss a few games, at minimum.
