Matt Dermody Starting For The Red Sox Thursday
Boston Red Sox pitcher Matt Dermody is getting the start Thursday night when the club takes on Aaron Civale and the Cleveland Guardians. Dermody, 32, is making his first career MLB start and 31st overall appearance after originally debuting in the 2016 season with the Toronto Blue Jays. He's the owner of a 5.60 ERA in 30 big-league outings spanning 44 innings of work while he's pitched to a 4.50 ERA and a healthy 19.7% in nine appearances (eight starts) with Triple-A Pawtucket so far this season. He has a nice opportunity in front of him against a Guardians offense that ranks 28th with a .292 wOBA versus left-handed pitching this season.
