A's Recall Mark Canha, Send Down Michael Brady
The A's recalled outfielder/first baseman Mark Canha from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. They optioned relief pitcher Michael Brady to Triple-A, one day after he was asked to throw six innings in relief. Canha has been up and down all season but has struggled at the major league level, hitting .191 with three home runs in 89 at-bats. Canha hit .122 in 41 at-bats in 2016, a disappointment after his promising MLB debut in 2015, when he hit .254 with 16 home runs and seven stolen bases in 441 at-bats. Canha will likely fill a bench role for the time being with the A's, but could play his way into a starting role if the A's choose to dump either Rajai Davis or Matt Joyce. Until then, Canha is not rosterable in fantasy formats. If he plays his way into a starting role and shows some of his 2015 magic, he could be useful in deep mixed and AL-only formats.
