Michael Kopech Lands on 15-Day Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that they have placed reliever Michael Kopech (knee) on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right knee and recalled righty Will Klein from Triple-A Oklahoma City. This is the third trip to the IL this year for Kopech, who missed over two months after undergoing surgery on a torn meniscus in his right knee in early July. This issue doesn't seem nearly as serious, though, as manager Dave Roberts said that Kopech is still "pitchable." Nevertheless, it will end an injury-ravaged regular season for Kopech. The righty threw just 11 innings and put up a 2.45 ERA with a 1.73 WHIP, 12 strikeouts, 13 walks, and six holds.

Hyeseong Kim, Michael Kopech Reinstated From Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated infielder Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) and right-handed reliever Michael Kopech (knee) from the injured list with rosters expanding on Monday, according to Sonja Chen of MLB.com. Kim is returning from the 10-day IL, while Kopech is back from the 60-day IL. Kim has been out since July 28 with shoulder bursitis and will return to the Dodgers as a super-utility player. He saw time at shortstop, second base and center field before his injury and could also be an option in left field for the Blue down the stretch and into the playoffs with Michael Conforto struggling mightily. The hard-throwing Kopech has been out since having surgery on July 1 to fix the meniscus in his right knee. Kopech struggled in just 5 1/3 big-league innings this season, so expect the Dodgers to ease him into high-leverage bullpen situations the rest of the year.

Michael Kopech Likely to Return Tuesday in Pittsburgh

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Michael Kopech (knee) is likely to return on Tuesday in Pittsburgh, as the rosters expand to 28 players on September 1, and activating him would not require a transaction. Kopech has missed most of the 2025 season with a knee injury, having made only eight appearances and pitched seven innings in June. During those seven innings, he has been dominant, not allowing a run and striking out eight batters. The Dodgers' bullpen could use the help, as they have struggled a bit with injuries and production (4.13 ERA). With Kopech returning, it's unclear how manager Dave Roberts will deploy his bullpen with Blake Treinen, Tanner Scott, Kirby Yates, and Kopech healthy. Still, as the season plays on, Kopech will be a strong candidate to pitch in the highest leverage situations, making him a good option for leagues that prioritize saves and holds.

Michael Kopech to Start Rehab Assignment on Thursday

Los Angeles Angels right-handed reliever Michael Kopech (knee) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, according to manager Dave Roberts. Kopech will follow right-hander Roki Sasaki (shoulder). The Dodgers probably are in no rush to bring Kopech back to the active roster since he's been sidelined with a torn meniscus in his right knee since early July. When the hard-throwing 29-year-old is able to return, he'll settle into a late-inning, high-leverage setup role for the defending World Series champions. Kopech had a 1.13 ERA and went 4-0 with six saves in the second half of last season after the Dodgers acquired him from the White Sox, and he tossed seven scoreless relief innings with four walks and eight strikeouts in eight appearances earlier this year. It's possible Kopech could enter the committee picture for saves in L.A. down the stretch.

Michael Kopech Completes Live Batting Practice Session

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Michael Kopech (knee) threw a live batting practice session on Monday and could be ready for a rehab assignment next, reports Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. It's been an abbreviated season so far for the 29-year-old, who didn't make his 2025 debut until June 8 due to forearm and shoulder injuries. If he can get healthy and return to his recent form, he should be able to rejoin the mix as a high-leverage reliever for the Dodgers in September and the playoffs. In his eight appearances on the season, he pitched seven innings without allowing a run.

Michael Kopech, Kirby Yates to Face Hitters in Upcoming Week

Injured Los Angeles Dodgers relievers Michael Kopech (knee) and Kirby Yates (back) will throw live batting practice during the upcoming week, manager Dave Roberts announced. Kopech will face hitters on Monday, and Yates will follow him on Wednesday. The Dodgers have gone without Kopech since late June as a result of right-knee surgery. Yates, on the 15-day IL with pain in his lower back since July 29, seems closer to returning than Kopech. While Kopech will likely need to throw batting practice multiple times, Yates could go on a rehab assignment immediately if he gets through Wednesday without any issues. The reigning World Series champion Dodgers are hoping to get Kopech and Yates back later this month as they head toward another playoff berth.

Michael Kopech Begins Throwing Progression

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Michael Kopech (knee) was able to resume a throwing program on Saturday. This is the first time that Kopech has been able to play catch since he underwent knee surgery last week. The right-hander required surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. He's currently on the 60-day injured list and isn't eligible to return until late August. Kopech says that he's feeling better and that he believes he'll be ready to return once his IL stint is over. Kopech figures to be a high-leverage option for the Dodgers, but fantasy managers don't need to bother stashing him right now.

Michael Kopech Undergoes Knee Surgery, Moved to 60-Day Injured List

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Michael Kopech (knee) has undergone surgery on a torn meniscus in his right knee, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. The Dodgers moved Kopech from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL as a result. Kopech's IL stint dates back to June 28, meaning he won't be eligible to return until the end of August. The Dodgers do expect Kopech back before the year is out, but this will largely go down as an injury-ruined regular season for him. The 29-year-old didn't debut until June 8 after dealing with an impingement in his right shoulder. He pitched well in eight appearances between IL stints, throwing seven scoreless, three-hit innings with eight strikeouts, four walks, and five holds.

Dodgers Place Michael Kopech on 15-Day Injured List With Knee Inflammation

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Tuesday that they placed right-handed reliever Michael Kopech (knee) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 28) with right-knee inflammation and recalled right-hander Will Klein from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. Kopech was a valuable late-inning addition to the Dodgers' bullpen last year before they made a run to win the World Series, but the hard-throwing 29-year-old hasn't really been healthy in 2025. Kopech also dealt with a shoulder impingement this year and didn't return until June 8. However, before his latest knee injury, he had been lights-out, throwing seven shutout innings with four walks and eight strikeouts in a setup role. Kopech will now be out through the All-Star break, and it's unclear if he'll rejoin the team for the start of the second half on July 18.

Dodgers Activate Kirby Yates, Michael Kopech

The Dodgers announced that they have activated right-handed relievers Kirby Yates (hamstring) and Michael Kopech (shoulder) from the injured list. In other moves, the team designated righty Chris Stratton for assignment and placed RHP Tony Gonsolin (elbow) on the 15-day IL with discomfort in his pitching elbow. Yates, whom the Dodgers signed to a one-year, $13 million contract in free agency, last pitched May 17. He was charged with a loss to the Los Angeles Angels in that game after yielding three earned runs in one-third of an inning. Overall, Yates has a 4.34 ERA (with a much more palatable 2.91 xERA) and 31:6 K:BB in 18 2/3 frames. The 38-year-old was a good source of holds before his injury, picking up eight, and may be a candidate for saves with lefty Tanner Scott off to a shaky start. Scott has blown five of his 16 save opportunities. Kopech, meanwhile, is finally in line to make his season debut after battling multiple injuries since the spring. He had forearm issues and then dealt with a shoulder impingement. The hard-throwing 29-year-old racked up 67 2/3 innings of 3.46 ERA ball with 88:34 K:BB between the White Sox and Dodgers last season.
